That's my FAVORITE time of year at Epcot! You're very lucky to have the opportunity to visit during the Food & Wine Festival.

The best way to describe the event is a celebration of food and drink from around the globe. All around World Showcase, temorary structures are erected, each featuring a handful of menu items from a specific country or region. The ones I remember: Canada, Ireland, Switzerland, Australia, France, Italy, Japan, China, Spain, the United States, Mexico, Argentina... I'm positive that there's more, but I can't remember them right now. Anyway, each location offers appetizer size portions of unique dishes for a couple bucks each. There are also great wines and other beverages to accompany the delicious food. That way, you can have dinner simply by strolling around World Showcase and sampling a little bit from each place.

During the event there are also wonderful seminars presented by chefs from around the world, wine and beer tastings, and special dinners held at the Odyssey and Millenium Village. If you have an opportunity, make reservations to attend one of the dinners. The best one I experienced was at the Millenium Village, featuring a dozen different chefs each preparing a signature dish. There was also a cheese tasting area with what seemed to be a hundred different varieties, and wines from vineyards all over the world. Everything was included in the price of admission for the event, and it was set up like a huge cocktail party or informal dinner, allowing us to roam and mingle without being stuck at one table all night.

I could go on and on... If you have any specific questions, let me know. As I've said before, food is one thing I can always find time to talk about!

Here is the official Disney page for the event:

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/pa ... lEventPage

There are some other great pages scattered around with info from last year's Food and Wine Festival, but I don't think there's anything out yet for 2005.

Here's some more info from 2004 on that dinner I was telling you about:

PARTY FOR THE SENSES
You’ll begin this memorable event at the 5:45 performance of the Eat to the Beat Concert. From 6:30 to 9:00pm, you’ll be sampling the culinary creations of 20 renowned chefs as well as 50 great beers and wines. This event takes place at the World Showplace Pavilion (formerly Millennium Village.)

$95.00 per person including tax and gratuity. The evening ends with preferred viewing of the Illuminations Fireworks. The schedule is as follows:

10/2 – Kool and the Gang
10/9 – Starship
10/16 – Taylor Dane
10/23 – Commodores
10/30 – Survivor
11/6 – Eddie Money
11/13 – Chubby Checker

It's well worth the price! As I remember, we made reservations about 60 days in advance, but that was in 2002 during the first year they had Party for the Senses. Just to be safe, you should contact 407-WDW-DINE to check when you can begin making reservations.

I've been in Epcot during the tasting too.
It’s very cool. They have many samples from each country.. so be be prepared to stuff yourself.

I think they change the menu every year.

It's definitely a good time to visit Epcot.

Enjoy!

I agree, that was a very cool place, though very busy. Having fresh mushrooms cooked in front of you was the best.

Also there is a pretty good amount of seating. Still, get there early when its busy :)

I just remembered that growing up the multi-color sour balls were one of the highlights of my trips to Disneyland. Something about munching on those to get jacked up on sugar then going on Big Thunder. :)
