I believe you can now get the Cobb at Starring Rolls Bakery next door if you don't want to do the whole sit-down thing...

Fantastic! You just made my day! The yummy goodness of a famous Cobb Salad without the time and cost required for whole sit-down meal... :D

I absolutely love the kalamata olive flatbread appetizer and monkfish entree at Jiko in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. If you haven't eaten at Jiko or Boma, do yourself a big favor and make your priority seating now! Deeelicious!

The Cobb Salad at the Brown Derby and Cedar Plank Salmon at Artist Point in the Wilderness Lodge are also extraordinary.
Hmm I haven't eaten at either... Next time I am there I will have to make plans to eat at either Jiko or Boma.

I have to say my favorite full service restaurant would be the Coral Reef... The lobster bisque is awesome, and the fresh fish choices are incredible

And you can't beat the view....

food!

Post by mickster68 » Mar Wed 23, 2005 7:19 pm

I've always wanted to try the AK restaurants. I've heard they are fabulous. Unfortunately, we tend to stick with the character or buffet type meals since we have the kids, who are young and somewhat picky about their food choices! Actually, I shouldn't say it's unfortunate--I can't complain about any meal we've had at WDW, and with the buffets it seems you get more bang for your buck! Maybe we can give them a try this time, though. It's been a few years since our last trip, perhaps they'd be a little more open to something different.

I think you're in luck! Boma is a buffet that offers a large variety of African foods, but it also has a "kiddie" section, serving mac'n'cheese, chicken strips, etc. When you go, be sure to try the "zebra dome" dessert. It's out of this world!

Dole Whip

Post by sunshine » Mar Tue 29, 2005 2:04 am

My favorite item by far is the Pineapple Dole Whip in Adventureland at WDW. In fact, my whole family loves them... it's one of the first things on our list every time we visit WDW!

Good call! Those definitely hit the spot on hot, humid days. Does anyone know if they offer Dole Whips in Disneyland?

I want to say they offer something along those lines at the Tiki Room with the Dole stand. Not sure if they are exactly the same but they do deal out a good load of pineapple food there.

By the tiki room

Post by simplecomp » Mar Tue 29, 2005 11:49 pm

We go to WDW about 3 times a year and every time we go I would get a spicey cheese filled pretzle outside of the tiki room, but the last time we
was there they siad they dicontinued them, fortunatly over at the the MGM studios you can find them at min and bill. deffinatly my fav but as for actual sit down we go to Boma or Ohana every time. I have a 3-1/2 year old ( whos been there 11 time so far ) and both are great for him, also Germany is great for kids of all ages with their shows.

Germany is also great for adults...

When I turned 21 I was working for the Disney Company on the WDW College Program. To celebrate the event, my friends and I went "drinking around the world." Basically, the goal is stop in each pavilion in World Showcase, have a drink native to that country, and not fall into a coma before you get all the way around.

We started in Canada and were working our way around counter-clockwise (the hot sake in Japan almost did me in). When we got to Germany, the Biergarten seemed like the perfect place to fill our stomachs with something other than alcohol. I was pretty far gone by that time, so when my friends volunteered me to dance the polka on stage, I was more than happy to do so. Though I don't remember much of the performance, my friends made sure to take plenty of photos to remind me when I sobered up. I think I've managed to confiscate most of them by now...

So, anyway, I want to apologize to simplecomp for being the jackass embarassing himself onstage during your family's dinner. I'm sure that was exactly why Walt didn't allow alcohol to be served at Disneyland.
