The new computer scenes and the redone family TV scene look pretty cool. The new descent... not so much. I really hope they're going to flesh that out quite a bit before opening. It looks like the most anti-climatic finale ever.

I too am hoping they continue the soft openings as I'll be there in January. It's hard to think of visiting EC without going on SE!

Ok, so I've been on it. The ride is pretty much the same from the Load up to the two kids playing on their computer...which has been replaced by something different. But I seriously doubt everything is done. There is no music in the Space scene at the very top. And yes...the decent is HORRIBLE. I don't want to give anything away...but there is literally NOTHING to give away.

edit: the vehicles are exactly the same, they just have touch screens now

I was excited about the "revamp", but I'm not hearing too many good things about the decent portion of the ride. I hope they have more that they plan to do before the official unveiling.

I just got back as well from WDW and we were fortunate enough to get to ride SSE! We were told in the morning that they would open it during the day for a couple of hours - but no one knew at what time. We wandered the park and were leaving in the afternoon for a break and it was open! A lot of the ride was the same with the new narration, just the ending had changed. Still a great one though!

I'm assuming they didn't change the seats? Those head rests always seemed a bit painful to me (along with those uncushioned square shaped seats!).
Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

Nope, sadly the seats are still the same!

Exact same thing happened to me (twice actually) this trip. Friday we missed by about 15 minutes, Monday we missed by an hour or two. So disappointed - I may just go ahead and watch the videos as I don't know when we'll be back at Epcot. We did mess around in the post-ride area, though. The 'put the body together' demo thing was pretty entertaining (especially if you're a Wally Shawn fan, which I am).

From what I've heard, they're pretty much finished with the rehab. It supposedly reopened yesterday.

Opening is not until February. They are still working on the decent which is why there are "curtains" up. Should be much better than it is now. This is coming from an immagineer that is working on it.

Hey everyone, I just had a friend go to Disney for four days of vacation and he was lucky enough to be able to ride SpaceShip Earth!! Can You believe it? He said he just walked in with his family and they just happened to be passing SE when the construction wall opened and they waved several people in, and his family was one of the lucky ones!!

He told me all about it and between his wife and himself they had mixed reviews! Should I post what they said here, or in another topic?

Well SE was opened when I was in Florida last week. I can say I'm not to impressed. I did ride it. The new music needs some help. The naration is ok. The ending hopefully is not completely finished I hope!!! For me it was kind of a let down.
