Question: Is MGM really going open it's own park? Isn't that why they took the name back?rdeacon wrote:I'm still lukewarm on the name. Guess its going to take time to adjust to it. And the Hollywood theme is kinda muddled... Here we go on another theme debate

I never thought about it as a "competitor's name" before. Now there's food for thought.castmember04 wrote:This park holds a special place for me as it is the one I worked in while on College Program. I am glad to see the new name change, and glad to get a competitor's name out of the Disney parks logo.
I kinda agree. I think it sums the place up a little better and it rolls of the tongue a little quicker. Not as good as MGM though.mickster68 wrote:Come to think of it, I kind of like plain old "Disney Studios" much better, too.
Would you call it Disney's Hollywood? That could work. I actually dont mind DHS as much as I thought I wouldCaptain Schnemo wrote:Now that I think about it, why even include "Studios" in the name? It's evident that the studio concept sucks, and things like the Tower and Fantasmic! have nothing to do with the studio theme at all.
The park just about completely loses its identity at that point, because it's not a movie park and all parks are basically "entertainment" parks, but dropping the "Studios" would be a good first step and hopefully make people forget about the Universal connection. I'd love to see a theme reformat that aims high, and gives Imagineers something to shoot for.
Hmm.meticulus9 wrote:Would you call it Disney's Hollywood?
After thinking hard about this, I think the theme of Hollywood would work for most of the park. My reason being this: the stars on Hollywood Blvd. are given out for film, radio, theater and television (I think there's one more that eludes me right now). All these areas are covered within DHS. That being said, I prefer Schnemo's and meticulus's "Disney's Hollywood" as the new park name. Are Aerosmith and Fantasmic! really Hollywood? I suppose the Hollywood is more applicable to most of the attractions than the Studios, but Hollywood implies movies and it's not exactly a movies park.
