I think my silliest moment is one of epic proportions, because it involves the coining of a word that kicked off the whole Subictionary thread:
I was on this fishing excursion with my father-in-law, and we were way out in the middle of nowhere on the Seven Seas Lagoon, and the bass boat is not equipped with a head (nautical term for restroom), and... well......
You all, of course, know the word....
Now if you define "silliest" as "stupidest, most embarrassing" thing, I'd say the one that really stands out is from our '07 trip. Mouseoholic and I were at the Hoop-de-doo Review at Fort Wilderness with a whole table full of our friends, and had just finished dinner. Mouseoholic had ordered a special cake for us (it was our anniversary) and when it was brought to the table she stood up to start cutting it for everyone. But she was having a really hard time figuring out how to cut it: it was a round cake, and for some reason she wanted to cut it into square pieces. So I watched her for a couple minutes as she started making a couple experimental cuts, didn't like it, tried it a different way, didn't like that... etc. For some reason I just lost it and snapped "What are you
doing?!!"
Everyone stopped and stared at me like I was some kind of freak, and poor Mouseoholic turned four or five shades of red, dropped the knife, and sat down with her head down. I felt like a total a**, but the damage was done. Although I apologized profusely, everyone was a little uncomfortable for the rest of the evening. I felt like crawling into a hole and dying.
