I just saw this on the latest update on Micechat about the Fun Wheel's opening:

Mickey's Fun Wheel: Closed for remodeling. Re-opens May 8, 2009, with soft openings beginning Monday, May 4.

As former APs from outside CA, my husband and I watched as DCA was being built, and we were part of the AP days prior to the grand opening on February 8. We too had many hopes for the park and feel it could have been way better, but after seeing what happened to Tomorrowland in DL and knowing that budgets were slashed, the park actually grew on us. We decided that we actually liked the food better in DCA. We would always go get the nachos from the mexican restaurant and split them. (that is, until they were taken off the menu...not happy about that)
It's also nice to get a glass of wine and people watch. Totally relaxing!

Well the barricades have been down for a few days now: http://twitpic.com/4k6wl

I can't wait to see the park from above again, just to see how it all looks now from the last time I was up there.

I haven't gone to DCA in a little while since I was at DL on Monday so I haven't seen the barricades being down. Other than that, I hope to go on it when I go with my best friends to DCA maybe next week or the week after.

Thank you so much for the updates! We don't get to go as often as we used to so we have to rely on the web for updates. We also like to check out Disneygeek. He takes some fantastic pics almost on a weekly basis.

I know so many people do not like DCA, but my DH and I do. We live in Vegas, and used to have APs. We found ourselves taking 3 day weekends every other month during the time DCA was being built. We went prior to the opening for AP play days (and missed the opening by 2 days b/c we had to be back at work). We kind of have a connection with the park...plus they used to have better food than DL...I can't say that anymore.

But we are excited for the changes. If they are executed as well as they are rendered, I think the park will look great!

Another update on the construction of DCA here on Micechat. Orange Stinger's pretty much a goner save for a few pieces.
