WDW Postcards

I was going through some old pictures and such that I had in a box and found some vintage postcards (circa 1972) . One of them is a real collector's item, as theoretically the place doesn't exist anymore, and another one is now known by another name. anyways, here are the cards (with the text on the back:

TRAPPED SAFARI
Hunters became the hunted, as an angry rhinoceros sends an African safari scrambling for high ground... one of many surprises in store for guests aboard explorers' launches on the Adventureland Jungle Cruise.

For those that don't know, the Dutch Inn was known as the Grosvenor resort, and is now known as the Regal Sun Resort

I really miss 20,000 Leagues, I wish they would've kept that ride. Now, it's just an empty sad space.

Those are awesome! Look at the SERIOUS lack of foliage in the Mansion and Jungle Cruise postcards... Definitely a change from today..

Yeah...that one scene from Jungle Cruise looks more like Frontierland than Adventureland because of the lack of trees and such. Those postcards are great though! I need to see if my parents have any pictures from my first trip back in the mid 80s. I'm sure there are some great shots in there of the young Epcot Center.

It's true, I had to look twice at that scene, because of how tall and overgrown the trees have become behind it! I wish I could find photos of a young me at EPCOT Center back in 82.

I think I have the first one "Trapped Safari" somewhere. That image is stuck in my head for some reason. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Great cards.

One question: On the one titled THE CRYSTAL PALACE RESTAURANT it says "offers dining in an eloquent, grand Victorian atmosphere." Is that what it really says, or did you mean to type elegant? If the post card actually says eloquent then that is probably worth more as a collector's item.

I typed exactly what is on the back of the cards (right down to the phone number and address for the Dutch Inn). The Crystal Palace one does, indeed, say "eloquent". see the attached picture for proof:

Very cool! It's amazing how bereft of greenery the park was in the early days. The summers must've been doubly unbearable.

Cool. I know I had the first two Haunted Mansion ones at some point (though they must have been from later and just the same picture was used, since no one I knew went in 1972). Love the tiny trees.

Those are awesome! Clearly you've been going to the parks since '71! I have some of those post cards tucked away in my "Disney" drawer! I think I might even have some old Epcot stuff, too. Way to go and thanks for posting!
