Possible Trip in May

My friend and I just put a deposit down on a 7nt pkg (buy 4 get 3 free promo), we took the dining plus and I am feeling a bit overwhelmed at all that WDW has to offer. Even just looking through all the WDW posts can be overwhelming for someone who is not a regular park visitor, there is just sooooo much to do and see!

Planning Disneyland is so much easier

We are going May 30th, is that time going to be riduculously hot and humid or bearable hot and humid??

If we are able to pull it off $$ wise, before our final payment is due 45 days from departure

we will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge. I really loved the look of that place that is why I picked it. It was going to be that one or the Poly or Contemp just because of the access to the Monorail

But the Wilderness Lodge looks so beautiful, I just had to stay there! And I like the fact you can take a boat over to the MK

at all of the different places to eat at the World and I am totally over whelmed at the locations and selections! The reservationist at WDWTravel kept asking me if I wanted to make dinning reservations at this time.....I was like I haven't been to WDW in about 20 yrs, I wouldn't know where to make a reservation at! There are no kids involved just us big kids (50+)

Breakfast I am not concerned about.
If we needed to make reservations ahead of time where should we absolutely eat at and not miss...
for Lunch at each park: Epcot? MK? Hollywood Studios?
for Dinner: Where should we absolutely make a reservation for?

I will be more excited once it's paid for, then I know 100% for sure we are going to be able to make the trip. Keep your fingers crossed and say a pray for us that it works out. I am beyond excited!!

Late May = hot, but it could be worse. It feels great to me because I like the heat and I live in GA, but if you're from cooler weather, it may be a tad uncomfortable (but not enough to put a damper on your trip!).

Wilderness Lodge is awesome. The lobby is incredible (pictures don't do it justice) and the grounds are beautiful. When I am on the ferry from WL to MK at sunset, I want to be no place else. It's really amazing.

Lunch: are you looking for counter service or table service? If you're looking for counter service, here are my picks for the parks:

MK: Pecos Bills (if you're in the mood for burgers) or Cosmic Ray's (if no one can decide what they want)
Epcot: Anywhere around WS is great (especially China and Mexico).
DHS: Sunset Ranch market (if no one can decide what they want) or Backlot Express.
AK: Pizzafari

Reservations (ranked with 1 being my favorite):
1) Ohana
2) Le Cellier
3) Chef Mickey's
4) Whispering Canyon Cafe (however, read the description to make sure it's right for your party - it is a lot of fun if your personality matches it!)
5) Liberty Tree Tavern
6) 50s Prime Time Cafe

I thought I may add restaurants that you probably want to stear clear of. I will probably get some upset responses, but this is what I think based on my experiences:

1) Garden Grill: the food was not good and the atmosphere is just ok. Yes, it's a revolving restaurant that sometimes revolves, but all of the scenery is kind of blah.

2) Crystal Palace: It's ok if you have small children with you, but it's obvious that it's geared towards them. The food is mediocre at best and you pay through the nose for a limited selection and long wait. The best part about it is that you can see the castle from the windows.

3) Akshurus (sp?) in Norway (WS): I've heard too many tales of so-so experiences and mild food poisoning to just stay away.

I really hope you can make it there for your long overdue Disney World dose - I'm pulling for you!!

if you're looking for a little atmosphere with dinner, then do Epcot. I've never eaten at table service places (as I'm more of a pizza/burgers guy). however, based on things I've heard over the years, I would recommend a couple of places:

DHS - 50s Prime Time Cafe
Epcot - Garden Grille
Epcot - Biergarten
MK - Liberty Tree Tavern
AK - Yak & Yeti

of course, depending on the type of cuisine you enjoy, you may not like some of those places. If you're looking for something in particular (Asian, Mexican, British, etc), then I would recommend doing a search through the official restaurant page. using the search criteria on the left, you can narrow results by park, resort, other area (DTD, etc), cuisine, and/or dining experience (character dining, quick service, etc). it'll help you to figure out where you both want to eat.

We try to stay away from Walt Disney World during the last week of May, or first week of June. Just too much to explain to the kids.

I would definitely agree with all that has been posted above. I would also extend the Whispering Canyon warning on Prime Time Cafe. Read some reviews on it, both on this board and everywhere else to see if you go for that type of humor.

I would advise that you drink lots of water when you are there and to try ti mix in some air conditioned breaks (like shows or shopping) to avoid the heat.

The Wilderness Lodge is amazing. You will be fascinated by it the minute you first arrive there and see the lobby. The only down side that I found with this hotel is that it can be a little tough to get a seat by the pool... You will always find one or two, but it can get tough to get 3 or 4 together.

As for restaurants, my personal favorites include (in no particular order): Le Cellier, Kona Cafe, Prime Time, Whispering Canyon, Cape May (a must for breakfast), Garden Grill, and California Grill (offers amazing views of the world).

During this time of year, the g** and lesbian community get together in Florida. One of their stops is Walt Disney World. This year the dates are June 2 thru June 8, 2009. Thursday, June 4th, Animal Kingdom. Friday June 5th, Disney's Hollywood Studios. Saturday, June 6th, Magic Kingdom. Sunday, June 7th, EPCOT.

My DW, who does trip planning, says you should be OK as long as you stay away from the parks that are having g*a*y days on the day they're having them.

They don't all go to the same park as advertised on their web site. They get the hopper pass too. We happened to be at WDW during one of these events and didn't have any "problems". Being adults we understand, (to some degree.) It's just hard to explain to kids why two men are in the ladies room. And the affection between men/men and woman/woman. Not vulgar, just a little too mushy to be farther and son or mother and daughter.

When I was 13 I was there for "g** days" and it was a bit shocking for me. I felt out of my element. We didn't know. We had no problems though. Just the slight awkwardness of man/man and woman/woman contact. It did get to be a bit much at times. But from what I read above you are an adult traveling with an adult so no problems hopefully. Oh and on a side funny note. The day we arrived at Magic Kingdom and realized what was going on I looked at my shirt I was wearing and it said "Boys Suck". My family had a good laugh.

Wow! It took me a moment to catch on here, LOL! My aunt/uncle were there at that time one year and my cousin's were still young. It can be a little difficult to explain to small ones.

Yes, make reservations!! You don't want to be without a place to eat, and you don't want to wast your DP points. You generaly can't walk up to a place and get it in, so make ADR's the sooner the better, you can try to walk up and get into a resturaunt, but don't be disapointed when they say, no. Centeral Reservations, will not let you make multi ADR's for the same time. See the www.disboards.com or www.wdwinfo.com for some great trip planning and DP help, lot's of great people on the message board too. Of course we would love to help you too!

We loved, in no order, Crystal Palace (pooh charaters, buffet) Artist Point (WL, salmon) Mama Melrose (DHS, Italian) LeCellia (WS, Epcot, get the Cheese Soup) Kona (Polly) Pecos Bills (MK) Caseys (MK, hotdogs) The rib place at AK, oh, can't think of it's name.

Your trip sounds like fun! I would love to stay at the WL some day! Yes, drink lots of water, hot but not too humid, yet, but it can be. Take in the shows in the AC during the heat of the day, and get to the parks at opening, stay till noon-one, go back to the room, swim, shower, nap, go back in the late afternoon, 5ish, or make ADR's for 4-5pm and then hit the parks again till close. AK is a real bear with the heat and skip that parade it was dull, same thing only different characters on each float. You may hit the Epcot Flower and Garden Expo, through May 31st, go see that, I've heard it's great, if your into gardening.

OMG my boyfriend will be BS over that......we ran into that in Palm Springs on their weekend......he was not happy. He will be sooooooo p***. I never thought to look into what groups might be there. Oh well, he will just have to keep an open mind ?????

Personally I don't care one way or the other. Since I grew up in Palm Springs and a lot of my very best, close friends are g**, it won't be an issue for me. Except the PDA I could do without

Well, I just called him and he said no way would he go durin that time.....so I need to call Disney and see if we can switch our dates. I was like no way will I go when its hot as hell in FL! So whats the happy medium here........I dont want to wait until Fall and I dont think the promo we were on included dates in the fall....UGHHHHHH

Yeah. Well I was young and still thought apparently that boys suck that or my mom bought it in hopes that I would never date ha Either way I was it was pretty funny. I should find the pictures from that day.
