Suggestions while in Disney's Animal Kingdom.
My fiance' and I will be visiting DAK on her birthday. I'd love to hear ideas on things not to miss especially non ride things. She recently had disc surgery so rides are not an option. We picked DAK because we are using her free Birthday ticket and even though I really love DAK it does not seem worth the price of a single day ticket when it closes at 5 or 6 and since she is getting in free it makes it more attractive. Thanks in advance for your ideas!

I've had disk surgery a few (12) years back. They built a bridge in my lower back (fused L4 and down) tell your honey it gets better. Keep up with her therapy (keep moving!!!!!, it will help with the stiffness and pain!!!!) and try to stay away from the drugs! You can't live on them forever. Tell her Pamprin works for the pain, swelling, and spasms. PM me with her name so my family can include her in our prayers and also tell if she needs the support of someone that's has come out the other side I'm here for y'all.

Maharanji (sp?) Jungle Trek is not a ride. It is a walk, but I imagine that the motorized scooters would work there. It is a great chance to see some animals. I also echo everyone else: Festival of the Lion King and Nemo are great.
You might want to try and catch some of the performers. "De Vine" is a performance artist dressed as a vine. The performers in Africa were wonderful when I was there (drummers and dancers).

Animal Kingdom is a great place to wander around and just take everything in. I love both the Maharaja Jungle Trek and the Pangini Forest Trail (and yes, they ARE wheelchair excessible), the Flights of Wonder show, and Finding Nemo: the Musical and Festival of the Lion King. There will be plenty of great things to do there - trust me!

I agree with Flights of Wonder. Make sure you have a camera and are quick to raise your hand. You'll be glad you did. Trust me!!!

dwellsbct, this is one of my favorite parks. I think there is so much to do here without riding the rides.
First off, don't rush past the Oasis. There is so much lush, beautiful foliage to admire, and there are plenty of animals throughout.
Two must-sees are Nemo & Festival of the Lion King. Both are great attractions. I also agree with ckc0915 about Birds of Wonder being an overlooked attraction. It is very enjoyable. The two walking attractions, Pangani Trails and Maharajeh Trek, are very good, with the latter bordering on excellent, especially if the Tigers are active.
It's Tough to be a Bug is a very well-done 3D attraction, with a very enjoyable queue line. You'll have fun spotting the animals hidden throughout the Tree of Life's roots. And speaking of queue lines, although you may not be able to ride Expedition: Everest, take the time to enjoy the Nepalese-like city Disney created. You'll be amazed at the detail.
Also, if she's still there, keep your eye out for Ms. DeVine. She's the "tree-lady" that frequents the park. You won't know what to think when you first see her.

Secondstar really did a great job describing all you can do. have been thinking, and depending on how bad your fiance's back is, you might be able to do the safari ride, but you would need to be in the middle on the front row. It might be a reach though...
Also, I would advise you take in all the shops. I find that that the AK stores have some really cool merchandise that is park exclusive.
