Oh it most definitely is one of the biggest highlights of all the parks. I would go crazy without it. On my last trip this past November, we went on it once on our first day at the MK. But towards the end of the trip when we have free days, me and my best friend went on it six times in a row, and we didn't get sick of it in any way. We had to get off to go back to our resort, though. I love that ride to death.

Last time I was in the Magic Kingdom, was Christmas day '99. My now wife and I of course ran to it and rode it twice first thing in the morning before the line got long. Then after the main street electrical parade, the park was still open for an hour, but I guess most people didnt realize that. We ran back to Space Mountain, and must of rode it 10 times straight before they kicked us out. It was great!!!!

That's awesome! So right when you got off, you went right back on again? That's a great idea, do it during/after the parade. Great time for rides, especially the bigger attractions. Haha, what me and my best friend did to go on Space Mountain over and over again was we would get a FastPass for Space Mountain, and then get in line. Luckily, the lines weren't long, so we got on within 10 minutes. After we got off, it still wasn't time for our FastPass, so we got on line again. Waited another 10 minutes, and then get on the ride. After that, our FastPass was ready. Before we got on, we got another FastPass for Space Mountain. Then we went through the FastPass line and got on the ride automatically. It was a great plan, and I'd recommend doing it if you love Space Mountain as much as I do. The plan worked and we had a plast. We did the same thing for Test Track, also.

yeah, I think after the parade's the absolute best time to hit up your favorite ride a few more times. The people who work at the parks are always so great they're going to most likely let you get your fix before they absolutely need to push you out. And since it was christmas day, which also happens to be my wife's birthday we were able to milk a bit more time out of it.

That must have been a great present for your wife. There's nothing else I'd rather do on my birthday than spend it at Walt Disney World. I agree. The CM's are usually very nice and kind and will let you on the major attractions until the very end of the night.

since I am not a thrill ride/coater rider, Philharmagic is my most favorite. I love that Disney has things for non-ride people, unlike IOA, imho.

I agree. Millions of people visit WDW each year, and every single person who goes there isn't able to go on every single ride. There are the handicapped who are physcially not able to go on some rides, and then there are those who just don't want to. That's why WDW is so great, it appeals to all kinds of people no matter their age, size, or any other standards. Philharmagic is very touching, also. I almost started to cry when I watched it on my last trip this past November.

That's great, jkm8113! I love that there's more to love about the Disney parks than the thrill rides. And that's all keeping with Walt's original idea of a place where families could have fun together. As you may have heard, Walt was very wary about adding the Matterhorn at first, because it was a thrill ride and not everyone could participate (luckily, he was won over by the idea of having the country's first steel roller coaster and being able to theme it in such a unique way). Though I adore the thrill rides, I think it's wonderful that the Disney Parks haven't turned into "Six Flags'."

Thank God!
I'm a huge fan of thrill rides, but there's more to it than just thrills at Disney.

I totally agree with kgmadorin. You're right, it was Walt's idea and dream to create a place where families could have fun together. I adore thrill rides too, and am also thankful that the Disney parks haven't turned into Six Flags, because that would ruin the whole Disney theme and spirit, don't you agree? I enjoy riding the Carousel of Progress. But it really upsets me that they want to get rid of it at WDW. The Carousel of Progress was Walt's orginial idea. He fought to have it made, and then it went to the World Fair in NYC. I think tearing down the CoP would be an insult to Walt.

"Slash Mountain?" Doesn't sound so cheerful and happy to me!

Fantastic! Thanks for asking! Both she and the baby are in perfect health and are right on schedule. Though she's due on November 15, if the big day can hold off until November 18, the baby will share a birthday with a very special celebrity. (Anyone know who?)
