Okay I figured there'd be an old thread about it, but I couldn't find it via search. If I just missed it, feel free to beat me about the head and shoulders.
Anyway! I was listening to the DIS podcast this week and they mentioned Youtube video of the abandoned Legendary Years part of Pop Century, so I went looking for it. I must say, this person is braver than I am. If I wasn't already against staying at the value resorts, video of this OBVIOUSLY zombie-infested building would have put me right off this resort.
The video (dun dun duuun.)
Having seen it like this, it seems to lend some credence to the idea they're going to have to do some serious renovation if they're ever going to use this, if it's even salvageable at this point.
Edit: Since people are asking, I'm adding an aerial shot so you can see where Disney's Post-Apocalyptic Resort is.

That is really creepy. It is really a shame that they never finished that wing. I don't think I would stay there now.

That looks post apocalyptic. You could film the day after there. all it's missing are a few stray dogs and the zombies.
Is that an unfinished wing or is that from when WDW slowed down the construction in 2001 or 2002?
I know what it is. That's how WDW feels when I'm not there!

Shh, don't try to jinx us.
However, I do hope they get a chance to finish it up soon even with the tough economy. I don't know if it's the budget that's the problem but I hope they fix it up.

Y'all don't understand. Those buildings weren't abandoned, they were "themed" to look like Detroit.

The Detroit Years...
But yeah, I've seen that video before and it's just creepy. I believe that this video was posted a couple of years ago, so just imagine how overgrown it is now.

I'm confused, there's a section of POP that looks like that?!?! I'm not a fan of the Value resorts, I've never stayed at any of them. Never had the desire to.

I'd like to know an answer to this also. From what I understand I thought it was all built out.

When Pop Century was being built, there were essentially 2 sections: the 50s-90s buildings and what was to be called the "Legendary Years" buildings. The Legendary Years were supposed to be the earlier decades and the skeletons were built, but it never got past that stage (I think because of budget cuts).
It's rumored that Disney is going to fix this up and do something along the lines of the Family Suites at the All Star Music. Right now, it is rumored to be called Disney's Animation Inn and Suites.

This is taken from Wikipedia:
The second phase of construction for the resort is the Legendary Years - 1900-1940. This part of the resort resides across the Hourglass Lake, and is connected by the Generation Gap Bridge. Its construction was halted after 9/11 due to the reduction in tourism. As of 2009, the "Legendary Hall" building and a few of the units have been constructed but are not finished. The buildings can be seen on the right hand side of the entrance to Pop Century. Initially the completed resort was to have an additional 2,880 rooms on the "Legendary" side, configured identically to the "Classic" side.
The parking lot for the Legendary Years section was completed during the earlier phase of construction, and occasionally is used as overflow parking for Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.

I've added an aerial shot from Google Maps so you guys can see where it is if you're not sure.
I have to say, it's tempting to haul some cyberpunk gear down there this year and do a photoshoot. It'd be a perfect setting.

You could do a movie like Blair Witch Project. Call it the "Eisner Horror Story"!
