Plan on taking your time. After you get off the train, you'll take a long winding trail to Conversation Station. There's all kinds of really neat things to see along the way. Let us know what you think of it when your trip is over!

I sure will--thanks for the info...I'm excited about seeing something new! It seems like something our kids will really enjoy, too.

I really like Animal Kingdom. I'm a nature lover, and I felt at home in Animal Kingdom from the first minute I walked in. The first time I visited was a unique day, though... a summer day with low crowds and just after a heavy rain, so everything was green, clean, and really lovely. My whole family loves it (though the kitschy DinoLand is not my favorite).

I agree with that! The boardwalk-style carnival games have no place in a park like Animal Kingdom. It cheapens the whole theme...

I think the rides are fitting [they go nicely with the cheezy highway-side theme started with Chester and Hesters] but the games are pointless.

I, too, didn't think much of it when it first opened, but it has changed quite a bit since then, and the few major attractions there are pretty decent. The addition of EE will give it a big boost, I think. We usually only spend a day there when we go, but it's kind of a break from the hustle and bustle of the other parks, and the surroundings are really beautiful. I do agree that the theming is a bit unclear-Asia, Africa, dinoland, etc??? Not sure where they were going with it, but I enjoy it none-the-less! I think it's under-rated, but that's just me
I completely agree - this is a full day park if you immerse yourself in it - remember, it's Nahtazu!! :D

I also agree. I didn't really think much of it, either, when it first opened. But I have learned to love and admire the park as it has grown. And, of course, we can't forget EE which will open a whole new section in the AK. Just give it time. This is exactly the same thing that happened with MGM Studios. And look where it is now. It's not able to be compared to MK or EPCOT, but it's gotten over its hump, and is easily people's favorite park.

I like AK & BG. I think AK can be done in less than a full day & BG takes longer because it is bigger. BG has more rides.

I don't think I will ever go to Bush Gardens. I park the family car at the resort hotel and don't touch it tell we leave. When you go to Animal Kingdom prepare to slow down. Not many rides but lots to see. The wife and kids love the zoo. Sorry not-a-zoo

Are you talking about AK, if so, you are right. There was a boat ride and they stopped it. They should have left it in. I never got to do it.

I did notice last weekend that they have a character boat that goes down the waterway now. It may make different stops, I am not sure. I only saw the back end of the boat with the characters on it as we were crossing over one of the bridges. I did also notice a couple of signs with directions to the character barge, or something to that affect, which would make you think you could ride with them. Or maybe they get off and have photo ops at those stops. Not sure, but I had never seen that character boat in AK before.

I think the whole DinoLand thing is tacky, tacky, tacky. Went there once and only went back this trip to see Lucky.

Yet that is the whole point behind it, they wanted it to be tacky just like the roadside attractions [carnivals, stores, the works - you know the types].

I attended an Imagineering seminar about four years ago at Disney University where they discussed the plans for Animal Kingdom's Dinoland extension. That was right before the new "Chester & Hester" area opened. They explained that it was supposed to be "ridiculing the roadside attractions on 192 that sprung up after Walt Disney World opened." That whole idea just rubs me the wrong way, as I always felt Disney was above that sort of thing. I almost asked during that seminar if the reason they were resorting to this was because they didn't have the budget to build anything better, or because their design department was creatively bankrupt. But I held my tongue because I didn't think that would go over so well.
"Our heritage and ideals, our code and standards--the things we live by and teach our children--are preserved or diminished by how freely we exchange ideas and feelings." -- Walter Elias Disney

I think Busch Gardens and Disney are both making mistakes. Disney himself said he always wanted Disney parks to be unique, and different. Now all they did for AK is copy Busch Gardens. Don't get me wrong, I love Disney, and I think AK is pretty cool, but it really is no different than Busch Gardens.

ANd I can't stand Busch to be honest. Yes their animal attractions are pretty cool, I mean you can't get that close to a lion anywhere. But that's what makes Busch cool. And so what do the do? Build more and more roller coasters and the animal attractions are getting smaller and smaller.

My point is where are the identities? Still though, I'd pick AK over Busch any day.
