But the real question is, what kind of store would really fit in with the DTD theme?
really, anything family-oriented would fit. DTD doesn't have a real "Theme" like the lands of MK or Epcot. Sure, they have 3 "lands" (Marketplace, West Side, and Pleasure Island), but in each, there's no real theme.
one thing I'd like to see is an update to Disney Quest (if they're planning on keeping it open, that is), and that would fit in VM. last time I was in DQ (which, granted was in 2001), some of the games/attractions seemed a little run-down or were completely dead.
the only problem with moving DQ into VM is what would happen to the current DQ building?

The lease was up at the end of 2008 for Virgin at DTD. They were leaning toward not renewing. Haven't heard anything since.

I'd like to see some of the other stores close on the West Side or replace them. I'm not a big fan of those shops as they aren't Disney. I like the marketplace side but never been a big fan of the non-disney stuff. If I wanted mainstream stuff, I wouldn't go to disneyworld to see that.

It was made offical today that the one in Times Square is closing. I would be VERY surprised if the one in DTD stays open.

Was there about 2 weeks ago. Lots of discounts, but no signs of it closing any time soon.

I hope it doesn't close. it is always rewarding to find a CD that I have been looking for. Even though it can be found online I still enjoy the search for a CD and holding it in my hands.

My husband is going to be really upset if it closes. He didn't get a chance to go the last time he went (without me), and I didn't get to go last time I went (ironically without him). He *LOVES* the Virgin store and if gets gone before he gets at least one last chance to go he is going to be really sad and upset.
It always seemed to be busy with people, at least browsing. I cant imagine it isnt making good money.. and heck, what else can go there?
But we shall see I guess. I hope it sticks around too.

I used to buy CDs at the Times Square Virgin Megastore many years ago but with the explosion of online music, I completely stopped. Virgin is too pricey for me. I was shocked when I found out the Times Square store was closing since I used to visit it a lot. A bigger shock was finding out that a Forever 21 clothing store was replacing it. I had no idea that company had so much business.
I never been to Downtown Disney (yet) anyway so it doesn't bother me.

Shhhhhhh, it's a secret. Don't tell anybody that people do that.

what? I copy them to my PSP, using a legal program to convert formats. nothing wrong about that. and not to get too off-topic, but it IS legal to make a back-up copy of movies for "educational purposes". I just have a loosely-based definition of "educational"...

Just a heads up to anyone who is (still) wondering:
There is nothing as of yesterday to show that Virgin Megastore will be vacating Downtown Disney any time soon.
