And since there is no line, you can go whenever you want.

Man, I hope they never close it. It is one of my favoites in the MK!
after the disaster that was Rocket Rods out at DLR, I don't think that the WDC would make that mistake again with a PeopleMover attraction. due to the updated laws, if they remove it, they wouldn't be able to put it back in. they are Grandfathered in.

I know this will show my DL noobness (considering I have never been there) but what was the Rocket Rods fiasco?

And are the rides at WDW grandfathered in too, or is it just in California because Los Angeles grew around DL?

I've never been to DL either, but from what I've read, apparently, it was a ride that was doomed from the beginning. There were major budget cuts as it was being built, so that was it's first major problem that would spark a serious of other problems. Since the RR moved much faster than the Peoplemover, the track could not handle the faster speed, making the track become weak. It constantly sped up and slowed down (to manuever through turns), so the tires were also a big problem. New tires were needed for the ride about once a week (which, obviously, became pretty costly).

Of course, this is only an opinion, but I heard that the attraction was simply boring (I've heard that the queue was the most interesting part of the ride). I think all of those factors gave the Rocket Rods it's extremely short-lived time at DL.

I've never been to DLR either, but Rocket Rods is like the "shot heard 'round the world". most Disney fans know that the attraction was basically a closed attraction from the beginning. it lasted just under 3 years, with breakdowns nearly EVERY day. here's a Wiki article on the doomed attraction. Spodie is correct in saying the tracks were weakened by the sudden acceleration and decelerations. also the tires situation, needing to be change 1-2 times per week. on-board computer problems also complicated things.
