Curses! Oh well ... I don't foresee getting to go before October. Maybe it'll be back up then.

actually, you can change the date without using the drop down. it's as simple as changing numbers in the last part of the address bar. the site lists Space Mountain being down until November 21, while TTA will be down until August 19. Now that it's on the official updates page, I do believe that SM is going down

shocked. Why would disney want to have Space Mountain and TTA closed during their peak times. If we go to WDW this summer, I will miss the ride on TTA during the 9pm Spectro.

It's no fun, but they have to do it sometime. Since it's such a major refurb, it's going to be down over such a long period of time that it would cover many peak times. If they waited until the winter, then it would still be closed during their busiest time - the holiday season and into Spring Break. Remember that HM was closed during the summer during it's last major refurb! My guess is that they're trying to have SM open again by this Christmas.

Yeah true, but I would still rather lose out on two-three weeks than two months of peak time. Should be interesting to see what SM is like after the refurb. I guess that means another trip in 2010!

I guess they are taking advantage of the slower business year of 2009 that they are projecting to fix up the ride. I wonder if they are going to totally change it or clean it up a little.

My son will be so bummed with no TTA. So will I. I guess they have to close both because it rides through but couldn' they put up a temporary wall so that the ride doesn't have to close?

I thought the TTA was only going to be sporadically closed during the refurb - at least that's what I heard. I really hope that's the case, because I really enjoy that ride as well! It would be cool to be on the ride and be able to see them working on SM, but I'm sure they will put up walls or block the SM parts so we can't.

Oh, this news is getter worse by the minute. I was just reading about SM and now this talk of the TTA. That is my refuge at the MK. We just sit on it and ride over and over again to feel the breeze and take in the view. Bummer...

Space Mountain, TTA and the Hall of Presidents will be out so far during our June trip. :(

Nothing confirmed but Allears.net says :

Tomorrowland Transit Authority - may have reduced hours during the Space Mountain Rehab since it goes through a portion of Space Mountain.

I just can't imagine a trip without the TTA. It just encompasses so much of what the MK is about and it's probably the best view of the park in a seated position.

It was the second best view before the Skyway closed. I miss that almost as much as I miss Horizons, of course for different reason. It was always fun to hear my sister scream when I would tease her about the gondola falling off the wire.

That's my thinking, too. Haven't all the recent big closures been during the summer? When did Depp and Friends move into PotC again?

I would assume they figure that later hours at all the parks will help compensate for having a headline attraction down. The fact that they project lower numbers for the 09 probably helps the decision; I suspect even if 09 is slow people will still be packed in for next holiday season.

Glad to see the TTA is only closing 'sporadically', both because I like it, and because that suggests the entire track of SM is not going to be altered.

I have tried the AstroOrbiter and for some reason I found it a bit scary. I don't know if it's the angle of the rocket, the height, the seating postion, or maybe the rotational speed, but I almost got sick on it. I found it offered amazing views of the Contemporary and Magic Kingdom, but I still prefered TTA.
