Although they might sue Disney for their own stupidity. That seems to be a common thing. And people they are called LEAN RAILS, not sitting rails.
The floor sitting I don't mind as much. That is more of the I'm SO tired from walking around the World........can I please rest. And if they want to have an obstructed view let them. Just don't be sitting when it is time to leave.

I know that this thread has not been updated in a while, but I wanted to chime in...
Personally, my biggest peeve is when I see parents drag around kids who are obviously in the middle of a meltdown, yet they continue to drag them around. Or worse - yell at them in front of everyone.
Im sorry - not trying to get into a parenting flame war, but take a moment to calm the child down so that they are not so miserable. It helps everyone. Yes, my comment above is for the benefit of the child - not necessarily my own benefit.
And yes... my child has thrown a fit or two but a few minutes away from the crowds is really beneficial in finding out what is wrong and figuring out how to fix the situation.
As for personal peeves - teenager groups that treat the park like some run-of-the-mill version of Great America and treat it like they own the place. Of course, no parents or adult supervision is in site.

Would have to agree. It's not as bothersome until you're on a ride that requires you to be quiet like the beginning of Tower of Terror or Rockin Rollercoaster.Gusman wrote:As for personal peeves - teenager groups that treat the park like some run-of-the-mill version of Great America and treat it like they own the place. (Although I can't complain too much knowing that I was once tromping around the park with tons of school friends on some field trip.

I believe I eluded to this in an earlier posting, but yeah this is a big one of mine. I am only 26 and I get really annoyed at the kids that are around in the parks these days. You can call it bad parenting, ignorance, stupidity, etc. but whatever it is it is REALLY annoying. I had a group of these kids in Disneyland back in August of '07. The kids were walking into Indiana Jones and the temple of the forbidden eye. As they were walking along they were yelling "DO YOU BELIEVE" (this was just after the fireworks display) they were yelling this to everyone that passed, and scaring little kids with their antics.Gusman wrote:

I hate how Disneyland, in the summer months, has become a dumping ground for parents. They drop the kids off during the day and pick them up at night. Disneyland is not a daycare for your teenagers. Yes it is a better place than the streets but they are hurting the vacations of many of the guests they come in contact with. I don't think this is going to help Disneyland in the long run. I personally would never use the parks as a daycare. I would actually spend time with the kids, maybe thats what some of these parents should start doing.

2 very good points. I don't mind the first so much as long as it's a) not in a dining room (and even then I mean as long as it's not a nice dining room. Counter-service is loud anyway, but when I'm paying $25 a plate I don't want to be treated to the all-toddler/tantrum choir for an hour and change) and b) not in a theater. It's one thing if it's a ride, the parent can't remove the child from the situation. It's not a real bother walking the streets/walkways of the parks, it's loud and you don't really need the quiet anyway. It's something different when you're in a situation where quiet is called for such as peaceful dining or a show and the parent can EASILY remove the child from the situation, and instead choose to put themselves before everyone else.Gusman wrote:I know that this thread has not been updated in a while, but I wanted to chime in...

As for the teens/pre-teens/tweens I agree. I almost always seem to get stuck in the stretch room at HM with them and can't hear the Ghost Host

AND ANOTHER THING! I really HATE when large groups insist on walking shoulder to shoulder at a rate of speed that makes one seriously consider if they are intentionally slowing their speed as it doesn't seem possible that it could be their normal pace. It's usually big families, particularly big families who are on the larger side physically. If you're going to be slow, fine, but please be considerate of those around you and don't make Main Street, U.S.A. one giant game of Red Rover! Or don't walk up to the entrance of a building or bottom/top of a stairwell and decide that is the appropriate place to stop and have a team huddle on what to do next. GET OUT OF THE WAY!

Fat people who claim they are disabled to get a good spot for the parades, shows, on buses first (with their party of 30). I know not all large people in wheelchairs and ECV's are liars but you do get the exception...
Last week we went to see Fantasmic!. We got there early (as is 'protocol') and watched as a CM brought a huge lady (who was in a wheelchair) and her equally large male companion who was walking (well sort of) in to the disabled spot in front of us. The CM kindly placed her wheelchair in the space and made sure she was happy with the position etc. Once he was out of sight a miracle occurred! She stood up and walked, yes walked! Up the stairs to get snacks. She came back laden with popcorn, cotton candy, drinks, chips etc. When the show ended they actually waited for someone to come and push her out.
That makes my blood boil!!!!!!!

And here is where my cynicism kicks off this morning. That is the American way, we use our laziness and lack of self-control to get whatever we want. It all started when the government listed obesity as a disability. IT ISN'T A DISABILITY! You are not born fat, you did not suffer some tragic accident that made you fat. Yes, some people maybe more prone to gain weight than others. If you are one of those people, put down the twinkie, get off your butt and go for a walk or run even. TIVO Oprah and Dr. Phil, they will be just as engrossing when you return.
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

As insensitive as this topic is, I fully agree. The worst was waiting for a bus for a Value Resort with what felt like a thousand people. Then right as a bus approaches, an overly obese person in a wheel chair pulls up and makes everyone wait as the bus driver does his or her thing to get them on board. I know its cynical and I do feel for the person who's embarrassed as everyone in line is starring at them; its just difficult to ignore the facts of the situation.Cazza and Livvie's Mum wrote:Fat people who claim they are disabled to get a good spot for the parades, shows, on buses first (with their party of 30). As posted before I really hate seeing that with ANY faked disability. I've seen kids literally switching positions in a WHEELCHAIR. I have a friend who is wheelchair bound from birth and she is one of the most active people I know and when people who are fully able-bodied see a wheelchair as a golden FastPass as awful as it sounds I wish they could live for at least 1 day in the life of someone who actually needs one.
As for the large people disability issue- I often hear the disability is diabetes, but as indicated above that doesn't explain the copius amounts of sweets and fatty foods that get consumed. It really is a telling and ominous sign when several rides now have to park "tester seats" outside of the attraction for people to be able to see if they can fit into a seat designed to easily accomodate large (read as "big, even fat but non-obese") people. I've seen tv spots for linebackers like Warren Sapp riding some of these rides and they are some of the largest people in the country/world; if you can't fit and they can that is disturbing.

That happened during our stay - it was very frustrating. Now, I know there are some people with disabilities that we can't see who require a wheelchair, but sadly, I think the people who take advantage of wheelchairs because they're too lazy to walk around grossly outnumber the people who legitimately need one. Anyway, we were waiting for a bus at MK after EMH last week and the All Star Lines were overflowing. Every time a bus pulled up, there was another person in a scooter (and it was always a scooter - no actual wheelchairs) with their families waiting to get on a bus. And, of course, the whole process of getting them on the bus took about 5-10 minutes (after a full day in the parks that can seem like FOREVER).PopCentury2007 wrote: As insensitive as this topic is, I fully agree. We've always thought that driving to the parks instead of taking the bus would kind of spoil the magic, but after that night, we decided to drive to the parks and it was SO much better!!!
I know this has already been mentioned, but I hate people who smoke wherever they please! That same night that I was talking about above, we were in line for the bus and the guy behind us decided to have a cigarette. He stepped out of the line, away from the hoards of people and lit up. No problem. Even though it wasn't a designated smoking area, he was far enough away from the masses that he wasn't bothering anyone. However, he got closer and closer to the line until he was almost in it - still smoking. That made me pretty angry. Fortunatly, another guy got on him about it and he put it out, but his wife was really angry and kept saying that he was an adult and that he could do whatever he wanted. They had a small daughter too - I hope they don't raise her like that (but that's a whole other rant

I have one from our December 2006 trip that I remembered. People who feel the need to scream while in line. I specifically mention this becuase while we were there, there was a cheerleading competition going on, and all the cheerleaders would start doing thier chants while in line for anything. I remember hearing several of these annoying little ditties waiting for RnR during EMH over at MGM one night. Oh, how I wished there was fastpass at night then...

I've got another pet peeve....
When staying in a deluxe resort, some expect children to be invisible. When staying in AKL a woman asked me if my children were always this excitable. I then told the lady it's not everyday you have giraffes and zebras wandering around the garden and this isn't a hotel anywhere in the world it's in a very special place...
Walt Disney World. She then walked off in disgust and told me all Brits were alike and had no control over their children. A very sad lady indeed. My children weren't being noisy or rude they had just checked in and were totally amazed at the animals wandering on the savanas.
I wish people who have no children or are empty nesters should remember they themselves were small once.

Sounds to me like you just ran into a very rude person. I don't have any children and I would never dream of walking up to someone in Walt Disney World (or elsewhere) and saying something like that...Cazza and Livvie's Mum wrote:I've got another pet peeve....

Some people leave their brains home when they go on vacation, I think. I'm pretty sure my posted pet peeve in this thread (ages ago) was rude people. Most of the annoyances seem to boil down to that, imo. Rude people who feel entitled to something, for whatever reason.

That is a shame. I don't know what is more annoying, that she would have to gall to say something like that or that she would pigeonhole you and say "all Brits are the same...." I could understand if they were running amok and being a general nuisance, but excitable chatter about giraffes and whatnot outside your hotel is very understandable. Our (and by "our" I mean American's) xenophobia really boils my blood, more so than Cazza and Livvie's Mum's previous pet peeve.Cazza and Livvie's Mum wrote:I've got another pet peeve....
