I live 40 mins away and last year when we had one of these it took me over 3 hrs to get home! I ain't gonna let that happen this time :D

I like snow if viewed from inside my nice warm house in my pink fuzzy house slippers while holding a hot cup of cocoa :D

LOL! You guys make me laugh!!!

On Friday we got hit with thunder snow/sleet/ice! It was terrible, we lost power for 13 hours too. We've got it back now, but it makes me appreciate things we take for granit, HEAT! I feel sorry for those that do not have a roof over their heads and the poor little furry creatures outside. I keep feeding my birds/squirrels. I hope they make it through this brutal weather. It's -5 outside today and with the wind it makes it feel like -27. BRRRRRRR!

AUGH! We lost power again today, but thankfully for 5 hours this time. It's very chilly in our house, I sure hope it doesn't go out again tonight. It's -3! Why in the world do we live here?!?! :?:

we haven't lost power (yet) but we've been getting dumped on by snow since Friday morning. we've had about 3 feet fall to far (added to the foot we already had), plus 30-40 MPH winds blowing it all around. wind chill has been around -15 all day...

I have a question, How quickly do the airports in upstate New York (mainly Syracuse) clear up after a storm similar to the one occurring right now?
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

I'd assume they are fairly proficient at removing snow and ice. Granted that may still take time but if they stay on top of it they should get the better of it. Maybe delays of about 2-4 hours with normal service returning around 6 hours later.

that would be about right. however, I can say that the Buffalo and Rochester airports were so backed up due to the blowing snow that they grounded flights. a bunch of the airlines cancelled flights in and out.

can't speak for Syracuse, though. that's Central NY, which is far enough away for us in Western NY not to care...

My car was dead this morning which I am sure it has to do with the cold, so a co-worker came over and gave it a jump start! UGH< I hate cold, I hate winter and I hate snow :D guess I moved to the wrong state  I can't imagine living in Buffalo JS, cause you all are the snow capital of the world.

Here in Rhode Island, it snowed on Friday then snowed again on Sunday then turned to rain. The roads are HORRIBILE, and my car was filled with ice. I can't wit to be back in Florida next year... I miss their "winters".
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

Rain upon that planet Earth. And they rain ... and rain ... and rain. The deluge.

I have just returned from WDW (my first winter trip). I looked out of the window on our first morning and thought Disney had gone the extra mile with the theming. The ground was white with frost and steam was rising from the lake.

The kids had woken early (due to the 5 hour time difference) so we went out at 6am for breakfast, when the pool came into view it was like a steam room. I couldn't believe how cold it was

Being a 'crazy limey' I was still wearing shorts (mental) and a native Floridian asked me if I was nuts. He, was wearing, boots, long trousers, puffa jacket, scarf, hat and gloves. Apparently it was the coldest it had been in Florida since 1974.

When I called 'home' to speak to my mother she made me feel so much better. She had a foot of snow and the roads looked like ice rinks. So I suppose the cold snap in WDW was a darn sight better than being at home.
