Creme Brulee's from anywhere on property. I don't know why but I had it in my mind that they were supposed to be more custardy and solid. I just can't get past the runny, liquidy consistency. I really feel like I am eating an uncooked dessert. If creme brulee is supposed to be more solid and pudding like then I have never once been served a cooked creme brulee at Disney World. Either way it bites.

speaking as a culinarian trained specifically in Pastry Arts, I can say that Creme Brulee should not a liquid, nor very runny. If it is, that would indicate that it is undercooked, or that water somehow got into the mix before/while cooking. either way, probably not a good idea to eat it (and probably won't taste that good).
it should be more solid, custard-like.
as for disliked foods, I haven't really had any while at WDW. I'm a burger and pizza kind of guy, so that's what I order. and I put what I like onto it, so it's to my taste.

Wow, OK, see then I'm not crazy. I really have never been served a cooked creme brulee at Disney World. And since I've never eaten it anywhere else I just thought that must be the way it was. Perhaps you can inform their pastry chefs on how to prepare that dessert. You'd think that at least one random restaurant would have gotten it right but since it was the same liquidy runny consistency everwhere I went I thought I was the one who had it wrong and didn't want to be the idiot complaining about he creme brulee. Guess I should speak up.

Well the creme brulee at the Cali Grill tasted very good, but it was a bad Creme Brulee. The top is supposed to be a hard shell of carmelized sugar with a custard beneath. The thing we got was mostly just a custard with no shell, and I'll agree somewhat goopy/runny for custard. It tasted amazing though!jenhen27 wrote:Creme Brulee's from anywhere on property. Sounds like a bunch of bad chefs to me. I am not a big fan of creme brulee myself, but I have made it a couple of times and it isn't THAT difficult and I am not formally trained. Perhaps WDW wouldn't need to give away free nights if they would hire competent chefs.

Here here. The custard isn't overly complicated although it can be difficult, but geez anyone with a blow torch and some sugar can get the top layer right!agingerbugg wrote:Sounds like a bunch of bad chefs to me. I have yet to have a crunchy topped creme brulee at any Disney property.... on second thought the Blue Bayou may have had one but that was like 10 years ago so I don't remember.jenhen27 wrote:Oh the top layer was always crunchy. But the bottom was basically soup. They are competent at using the blow torch in my opinion.

As some people said before- I have never had anything that was just AWFUL anywhere in the World, but I am not a fan of the Turkey Legs- they are too dry for me. Also the food at Planet Hollywood and the Rainforest Cafe are edible, but sub-par.

Now I'm trying to remember...is the breading sweet at all? I'm trying to think if it wasn't the breading I liked. But I think it was the dog...I think it's made with real beef, and I prefer the fake stuff, lol!
