I got a 9MP Fujifilm FinePix A900 for about $90 after about $30 in rebates. It takes decent pictures, has several shooting modes (including a fireworks and sunset settings), has a large viewfinder, Infrared transfer capability which you can use to transfer images from one IR-enabled camera to another or to any IR-capable device. You can even use 2 different memory cards with it (SD or XD). It's very simple to use as well.
I also have a 4.1 MP Fujifilm A360 which I got at Walmart back in 2004 for around $70. obviously, it doesn't have all the capabilities of the A900, and has half the resolution to the pictures, but it is , again, a very simple to use point-and-click camera. The A360 only takes XD cards.
If you'd like, I could send you some more info on the A360, which I am actually trying to sell (as I don't use it anymore). just PM/Email me and I'll let you know more...

I would ONLY go with Canon for any digita camera. I have had Sony's, Nikon's, and HP's. The only one that I have gotten that has been able to withstand the test of time is Canon. My current camera is about a year and a half old (SD850IS). It has been in 125 degree heat at the Hoover Dam, 20 degree weather on the streets of NYC in December, out in a light rain at a Rutgers Football game, the humidity of Orlando, and my favorite, slammed into a rock on top of Mount Tammany in NJ when I almost lost my footing. It actually has a scuff from it right next to the flash!
The camera works perfect and still takes amazing pictures after all of this and 8,000+ shots.
