Hruskocy Family Trip Report 11/8-11/14/08

Post by boilerbabe » Nov Wed 19, 2008 1:53 pm

We returned last Fri. (11/14/08) from WDW. We were there for 6 nights and it went by way too fast! Our good friend joined us for a few nights, which you'll see him in some of the pictures (he runs and dives with my family, so we consider him family). We stayed 4 nights at POFQ and I must say, we loved it! I haven't stayed there in a long time, and I'd go back again! It's small, quiet and pretty! We then managed 2 nights at our beloved Poly. Which was worth every penny! We didn't do that parks on that day, we just enjoyed the resort and visited the GF Spa! :)

We did try some new things on this trip, we did a carriage ride through POFQ to celebrate our 2nd Ann. and we did the Segway Tour through Epcot which was a blast! We also did Dive Quest, my friend, Tim, joined me since my DH is a bubble watcher (he's afraid of the water). DQ never gets old, I could do that 100 more times!

We got to try Toy Story Mania and LOVED it! Of course the lines were long for this attraction, and we were only able to Fast Pass it once. Otherwise the crowds were light in the parks and we never waited more than 20 mins. for anything. (With the exception of Soarin, that required a Fast Pass).

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party was wonderful! The last time my DH and I attended this we were on our Honeymoon in '06. The fireworks and parade were different from when we last went. We got to see the Mouse himself in Toon Town, and we were thrilled!

I will attach some pictures! We had a wonderful trip and hope to return home soon!!!! Enjoy!

Excellent pictures, makes me anxious for my upcoming trip! What time is the castle lighting ceremony and does it take place even if there is no Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party? As you can tell, I way over plan, but that's half the fun!
Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

I honestly don't remember when they turned the castle on, I just remember coming out of Tomorrowland and it was so beautiful! I'm sure if you go online, you can find it!

I hope all of you have a fantastic time on your upcoming trips! Hope to hear about it when you get back!!! :D

what did you think of the Segway tour? what time did you go on it?

back in 06, we got on the 9L30 tour and we only got about half-way through the WS (up to Italy where they take your picture and such). But, it was alot of fun. a definate do-again next trip...

We did the 9:30 tour as well and same thing, we stopped in Italy and turned back. I'm not sure if the earlier slots go all the way around? Our plan had been to get to Epcot at 9 and get a Fast Pass for Soarin and then hit the Segway Tour, there were bus issues though so we arrived in just enough to get to the visitor center for the tour. We were a bit disappointed, no Soarin. But, would do the Segway Tour again!

Awesome pictures and I have to agree that the Deluxe resorts are really enjoyable. They are costly, but you really get a wonderful experience (for the most part). That is I think the first time I have seen a picture of the castle lit up.

To abrcrmbegrl20 and spodie have fun and take lots of pictures!

Segway tour? Seriously? That is amazing! Great pictures, too! I love this the most because of the way the water looks in front of Spaceship Earth. The Scrabble one was great also!

I believe the earlier tours do go all around WS, but the 9:30 tour gets a little less because WS opens at 11. It's supposed to be 2 hours long, but you only really get about an hour and 45 minutes...

Nice pictures, thanks for sharing. I wanted to do the Segway tour the last time were at EPCOT, but I couldn't talk my wife into it.

Future Guy, tell your wife it's great fun! They give you a whole instructional session before they send you out there. We had to talk our friend Tim into it! He was leary about the whole balance issue. After about 2 mins. on the Segway he was all smiles! Give it a try the next time you're there!!! :D

I was a bit nervous of the balance issues as well, especially when I first got on the Segway (just ask Dr. Ravenscroft how I was rocking back and forth on my feet trying to stay balanced at first). but, after that first few minutes, it's great, and feels ALMOST natural to stand on it and stay balanced. Theme Park Review has a video they took of their Segway tour they took back in 2004 or 2005. The training/instruction area used to be behind the France pavillion, but they moved it into Innoventions.

there's actually an older thread in the "archives"about the Segway tour. It does have some great opinions from people who have taken it:
