Star Trek vs Star Wars (Now with poll-y goodness)
I saw Quantum of Solace at midnight with my best friend and they showed a brand new trailer for the new Star Trek movie which got me very excited. I told my step-dad about it since he loves both Star Trek AND Star Wars but I want to know what you guys like better. I know this is the neverending question since a lot of people have their favorites so break out your geeky side and let us all know!

I am a fan of both! I grew up with Star Trek. After seeing Star Wars (When it first cam out), 5 of my friends and myself joined the navy (we were going to be navy pilots! yea that happened. LOL!) They both have an equal place in my heart.
Now one of my son's (who is the top student in his grade and has been for about 4 years. He's in 8th grade) Want's to go to Cal Tech so he can be close to Lucas. In an assignment last year he wrote George Lucas was his hero!

Star Trek all the way. The message of Star Trek (albeit, impossibly optimistic) is one that makes everyone hope for the future. Star Wars, is just your typical war movie, just in space and with a weird incestuous side. Don't get me wrong, episodes 4-6 are on my list of favorite movies, but I just don't do it for me like Star Trek does.

I used to watch Star Trek: The Next Generation a lot when I was younger. Not particularly sure why because it frankly creeped me out and I thought the plots were weird. On the other hand, I love Star Wars movies and find nothing creepy, odd or strange whatsoever about them.
Go figure! Then again, Jurassic Park is one of my favorite movies, so I must just be special.

personally, I like both, but I prefer Star Wars. my 4th grade teacher turned me on to Star Trek: TNG, and I watched every-so-often. But, there's just something that draws me to the Star Wars universe...

I'm a huge Star Trek fan. I spent my childhood pretending to be Captain Kirk. Mr. Spock was my imaginary friend. I guess the reason I first fell in love with EPCOT is that Future World's 1980s-flavored future bears a lot of resemblance to the look of the Star Trek films of the '80s.
Although I've never been to a convention or worn a Star Trek costume, I do contribute to a Star Trek fanzine at times, and I know waaay too much about how Warp Drive "works". I've seen the trailer for the new movie, and although it's got the right-wing Star Trek fundamentalists angrier than Nancy Grace after the Duke lacrosse players were found innocent, it looks like a lot of fun to me.
Of course, I love Star Wars too (on top of the cabinet over my desk at work, I have a bunch of Star Wars figures posed as though they're dancing in a conga line), but at the end of the day I think I'd rather be in the Captain's chair of the Enterprise than in the cockpit of an X-Wing fighter.

I cant stand star trek for some odd reason. Ive tried watching it a few times back in the day, but could never get into it. I guess im just one of the poeple who just dont get it. I enjoy star wars a lot and am even one of the very few who also enjoyed the prequels. I thought they were very entertaining and the story was good in my book.

I have always enjoyed Star Wars since I was young. I love the mythology of the SW universe, and the original trilogy dealing with the redemption of Anakin, and the battle of good vs. evil is just something I think almost everyone can identify with. Plus who hasn't wished they could use the Force or wield a lightsaber?!?!

No I didn't catch it, but good news is that it is again on this weekend, and the first SW Robot Chicken will play before the second once so it will be an awesome hour of Robot Chicken Star Wars edition!!!Future Guy wrote:Speaking of Star Wars, did anyone catch the second Robot Chicken Star Wars episode last Sunday night? It was hilarious.
