What rides have you been stuck on when they broke down?
Moderator: Moderators
I've gotten stuck on Splash Mountain and (most recently) the Norway ride at EPCOT. Neither one I had to be evacuated off of. Both weren't very interesting though because both times I got stuck after the big drop in each (so, down in the outside portion of Splash and almost to the exit in Norway). But the Norway situation was funny...just because it's Norway.

If there is lightning within a certain radius of the property they close all the "at risk" attractions Splash Mountain, Skyway (when it was open), Test Track, etc. I don't remember what the mileage is, I used to know. That'd be a good WDW trivia question.spodie wrote:
I never thought about what they would do if it were raining or storming during TT. I've always been pretty lucky with the weather at WDW, aside from the occasional rain shower. I'm assuming that if it's just raining, they will keep it going, but how bad does the weather have to get before they shut down the ride?
But anywho, I have been evacuated off Space Mountain, sort of. We had loaded and the cars moved forward to that next area right before you are launched around the corner into the tunnel. we were sitting there waiting and waiting and waiting, none of the cast members said anything to us, they were just standing around chatting. Finally someone official looking (meaning he was wearing real clothes, not a costume) said something to them and they came over released the lap bars and announced the ride was down. As we were getting out of the car the lights came on inside and you could see the track, it is unnerving to see it in the light.

Haunted Mansion broke three times when I was on two months ago. I narrowly escaped being stuck on Matterhorn when that broke down last month. My bobsled was one away from the exit and we managed to get off in time. Other than that, I don't think I've really been on any other ride that broke down when I was on it. I just know that both BTMR and Splash Mountain were down the last time I went.

CAROUSEL OF PROGRESS. My story about it is in the Where in the World thread if you are interested....I love the ride to death but we were literally stuck in time and throughout the rest of my vacation...My friend and I were indeed singing "Great Big Beatiuful Tomorrow"
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

Oh boy. I've been on lots. At Disneyland I got stuck on Indiana Jones, Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, POTC, Matterhorn, Rocket Rods and more I'm sure. At Disney World the list is pretty much the same, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, POTC, Test Track again there is probably more that I am not thinking of.

This last trip was my 9 year old's first, and she was none to happy to go on HM. All of us tried our hardest to convince her she would be just fine...it's WDW...nothing would happen to her. So she agreed, and she was in my car. Just before the big "ghost birthday", she leaned over and said "Mom, I sure would not want to get stuck in here...it would be really scary." You guessed it, the ride broke down. She freaked out,, but eventually realized, that indeed, the ghosts were not "all that scary". She did not go back on, though, when my other kids and I did the "midnight ride".

hmm.
Well lets see, over the 4 times I have been, I have been stuck on:-
Magic Kingdom:- Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, It's a small world,
Epcot:- Spaceship Earth, Universe of Energy, Test Track
Animal Kingdom:- Kali River Rapids, Kilamanjaro Safari
Hollywood Studios:- Great movie ride, star tours
They haven't been broken down for too long but the worst was It's a small world when they kept the music playing and after a 5 minutes it just got on everyones nerves so they turned it off and everyone cheered then shortly after the ride started again and the song satrted again and everyone was booing

I have never been evacuated from a ride, but I have been stuck on many attractions as they experienced a "hiccup".
Magic Kingdom: Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear. The Buzz experience was pretty cool since the lights came on, and a walkway bar raised up next to the track. Another time we got stuck, they left the guns enabled and I found the high point target. I set my personal best that day.
EPCOT: TT in the cold room for a couple of minutes. It gets REALLY cold, but it was not as bad as the people stuck in the hot room.
DHS: none
Animal Kingdom: Kilamanjaro Safari. The ostriches decided to stand in the roadway for about 20-25 minutes. They had to call out the "safari team" to move the ostriches off the road. It was really cool as our driver started to talk to us and joke around about it really being an 8 day safari.

I was at the end of splash mountain at WDW and all i heard for six minutes was the zip a-dee doo da song. Now i do like the song but it got so annoying hearing it loop over and over and over again. Some one got sick and vomited in one of the log boats so we had to wait for it to be cleaned up.

Almost the same thing happened to me! Except we only stopped for a couple of minutes. But then the ostrich couple decided to walk down the road in front of us...very slowly. lol It was quite funny.Len90 wrote: Animal Kingdom: Kilamanjaro Safari. I've been stuck on the following: Tomorrowland Transportation Authority, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Carribean, Splash Mountain, Rocket Rods (remember those?), It's a Small World (kill me now!) haha if you've never gotten stuck on just about every ride you've not been to Disney nearly enough haha

The one that sticks out the most was being stuck on POTC. We got stuck right at the end part just before you go up hill where those pirates are rocking on the barrels and shooting their guns. All we kept hearing was that darn pirate laugh over and over and over again. Enough to make me wanna get outta the boat and punch him! lol

That is funny. Our adventure turned a little scary since where we were stopped we had two rhinos, about 10 feet away from the truck eating some grass. We were sitting in the front row, and were watching as our driver kept her eye on the rhino. We found out that they have been known to charge the trucks! Here is a picture taken with NO ZOOM!!! http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/ ... G_5667.jpgannafab wrote:Almost the same thing happened to me! Except we only stopped for a couple of minutes. I think the Haunted Mansion is a great one to get stuck on. If you are in the right place you can really take in all the special effects that you don't notice that well as you rid through.

I got stopped on Kilamanjaro Safari the first time I rode it in 1998 because the giraffes walked right up to the truck and wouldn't move. The guide kept telling us not to pet them, but no one listened.
