Singing the song of adventurers

Over 10 years of going to WDW and I have never been to, or felt the desire to, visit Pleasure Island at night.

Guess I'm not going now, at least not to the Pleasure Island that exists today.
I will probably check out whatever replaces it just out of curiosity.

I hope they keep the Jessica Rabbit Sign, I can't think of anywhere else in WDW that has a Jessica or Roger Rabbit. (I await your corrections to this observation.)

I only went once to PI but thoroughly enjoyed my experience. My older sister and her husband went all the time and introduced me to the Adventurer's Club. It was definitely a great time. Maybe somehow, Disney will find a way to resurrect the AC and some of the other clubs but I won't be holding my breath. To those that are able to go to PI for its final days, wash back a brewski for me! :mickey:

It'll be sad to see the complex go in all honesty. I remember when it first opened. I remember when I went roller skating at the Rock & Roll Beach Club back in 1994 while listening to live bends. Watching drunken tourists attempting to get off the rotating dance floor at Mannequins. and spending hours at the Adventurers' Club. Pleasure Island has been in bad need of revitalization for years, without a doubt. I think getting rid of goldmines like the Adventurers' Club and to a smaller extent the Comedy Warehouse are big mistakes. The rest though? Really need to go. I hope they keep Raglan Road open though as it is on the outside of the "Island" and is always busy.

I'm coming down on the 25Sept to take my dad (who lives in Kissimmee) to see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy at EPCOT and plan on making a side trip to PI to take pictures.

I just went this past Friday to Pleasure Island and ALL of the Clubs were PAACCCKEED from Adventurers Club to Motions to Mannequinns to 8Trax and Thursday started the day when Cast Members had to pay to get inside so I guess the loss of PI has made people check it out one last time.

It is so sad that they are closing it down :(
I had such a good time, I'm just glad I was able to enjoy it one last time!
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

Good Night Pleasure Island

I walked around there during the day this past Friday. Half of the stores that were once there were already boarded up. I took many many pics. I even took a great video walk thru only to have my computer eat it off my camera's memory and disappear. Grrr...if people want, I can post pics on my return from FL.

It is very sad indeed. I've been pretty depressed today because of Pleasure Island's Closure :( Why Disney Why do we need more shops and restaurants?

I closed down Motion and Mannequins on Thursday, September 25, 2008 and there were wall to wall people ... especially Mannequins which is infamous for the Thursday nights anyway... afterward a crowd of people filed out of the clubs and just stood around talking about all the adventures we all had at Pleasure Island. As a DJ I really wanted to be on the decks somewhere for at least one night... spinning stuff at 8-Trax or Mannequins... but alas they are now dark.

While I understand the business case for Disney closing the clubs, it's a shame that they couldn't be creative and make it happen...

RIP Pleasure Island

I have only been a couple of times but my take on it was that it was great when we went in 2000 and you needed admission tickets to even cross the bridge. When we returned in 2005 we felt that the magic had gone. When we went to WDW this year we couldn't be bothered to make it down there. We had more interest in Scat Cats at Port Orleans. The trouble is that when we are in Disney mode we aren't really in Clubbing mode. After getting to a park for 9am and knowing that we want to do the same the next day it's not really appealing to be out drinking until the early hours. I wonder if many other people feel the same way?
1980, 2000, 2005 and 2008 all had plenty of magic. Hoping for a bit more in 2010.

Would like to see. Don't touch your camera card. You can try and pull it off through the use of a recovery program. I know SanDisk gives you a CD of it. I have mine, but registered it from my ExtremeIII 2GB SD card.
