I personally think that the specialness of HMH is that it is once a year. I am not sure it would work, in it's own attraction, all year long. Besides there is such a thing as overkill. Always keep them wanting more.

The nice thing about the holiday version is that it tends to be more kid friendly. My six year old refuses to go on the original (even though the original is one of my favorite). But I agree with the other s that like the change for a portion of the year, but I would miss the original if it went away completely.

I also, agree with everyone else. I don't think it should remain as a permanent overlay, because it would only limit it's specialness. It's nice to know that a certain time of the year it will be there and then gone again. I mean if I was to know that it wasn't going to be there one holiday I would be unhappy, but to see it regularly even in existence of the original maybe to much.

Unfortunately I never get to see HMH because I live on the east coast and I'm a teacher, it's virtually impossible for me to get over there this time of year. I don't think they should make it permanent but MAN I would love to get to see it once. We only travel to Disneyland in June.

I know I have already said that I would never want the original replaced. My kids (ages 5 1/2, 4 and 2) will disagree. They would much prefer HMH to be a year round attraction since it really is more kid friendly. So we enjoy HMH as a family when it's around and maybe when the kids are older they'll appreciate the wonderful original version, too! :D

I'm on the side of sticking with the original. It's nice to see the mansion re-themed for the holiday - kind of like looking forward to the holiday fireworks.

Definitely not...riding HMH during October helps get me into the lovely last-few-months-of-the-year holiday feeling. But the old Haunted Mansion is so special. :)

On the one hand, I don't want it made permanent.
On the other, I DO want WDW to adopt it in the very near future.
Also, I would also think this would be better if they could go faster on the conversion process, so the Haunted Mansion would remain "classic" for Halloween, and then convert by the start of December. Just throwing that out there.

Haunted Mansion Holiday

Post by treasure hunter » Oct Mon 20, 2008 11:58 pm

I think it's great to have the Haunted Mansion Holiday during the Halloween and Christmas season. It helps gives a bit of variety to the seasons in the park.

The Mansion needs to remain the same mansion and only turn Holiday for the season, but, I would be interested in a Nightmare Before Christmas Attraction. Like a flying coaster with cars shaped like santas sleigh taking you along with Jack as he creates his own Christmas. Something like that might, and I mean Might have potiental.

Personally I'd love to see Alien Attack at Disneyland. But that isn't gunna happen. :(

I am particularly not in favor of the HMH at all. I prefer to ride the Original HM, as you really get a great feel of the Disney brought by this truely original attraction. Adding NBC to the ride to me feels like a cheat just to the original, much like adding Jack Sparrow to Pirates is to me. Now before everyone starts throwing tomatoes at me for dissing Capt. Jack, I still love the ride, and have grown to like him in the ride, and can understand how Disney wants the younger audiences to connect with these classic attractions by bringing in current stars to them. I just feel Disney needs to be careful because they seem to be doing this all too often to attractions, just bringing in a new character or star to rejuvenate the attraction.

End rant... 8-)
