the whole question of the AC comes down to the D/C.
ZING! At least one person had to give you props for this :). I haven't had a chance to ride in the new monorails, but have ridden in the current and past ones without AC before. It's definitely a little stuffy, but like they said, it should be okay below 90 degrees. I think the benefit of having 3+ monorails going at once outweighs the negative of no AC, especially in Southern CA fall/winter. i'm really looking forward to having to guess again about which Monorail you'll get and seeing the different colors go by. Let the family arguments about favorite Monorail begin again!

Those are good looking monorails. I certainly dig the retro look, but I'm glad they're not changing the WDW monorails; they're one of the few remaining links to the WDW of my childhood.

Really like the new design. Wonder if they will bring it to Disne World. Anyone know?

Probably not the exact same model. The two parks have never had the same model trains. When WDW opened, DLR had the Mark III and WDW had the Mark IV, then DLR got the Mark V and WDW got the Mark VI. Now DLR has the Mark VII, so tradition implies that the next model to come to WDW will be the Mark VIII, but no word on its design from what I can find.

I haven't heard anything on WDW getting a new monorail(s) anywhere but I'm sure one day it's bound to happen.

You have to ask to sit up in the cone from what I've done by personal experience.

I've haven't really been paying much attention to the new Disneyland monorail updates. What color monorails are up now (besides the new red - loved it!)? Is there a good spot to see pictures?

From everything I have heard/read (and I have done extensive searching on this topic) there are currently no plans for a Mark VIII monorail. And after Disney's earnings statement yesterday and the state of the economy in general, I don't expect them to do anything soon. Besides, the Mark VI's are still in good condition and Disney just redid the interiors, not a sign they will be put to pasture soon.

Blue has been running since late last year. Orange has yet to be seen around the place. I'm not sure if they've put the entire thing together but I hope that they'll bring it out soon.

As for pictures, I found two here: http://flickr.com/photos/andycastro/279 ... 171104872/ and http://flickr.com/photos/andycastro/279 ... 171104872/

I believe they are holding back Orange until they get the current airflow problems fixed on Red and Blue. They've been doing some testing with new window designs (a lot like the old Monorail windows, actually...they should have realized that if it ain't broke, don't fix it). I would assume that once they've got the windows fixed, they'll give Orange a once-over and then set it out with minimal hassle of all the limitations and testing that Blue and Red have had.
