Least Crowded Time of the Year?

Post by chief0staph » Sep Tue 02, 2008 7:02 pm

I'm very familiar with disneyworld and it's crowd cycles, but I've only been to DisneyLand once ever. Some of my friends and I are planning to roadtrip to Disneyland and we're hoping to go during a less crowded season. When might that be? It's definitely mid january in FL, but we're driving from CO to CA and that means crossing the mountains, so we're hoping to find a time that's not midwinter.

The least crowded time of the year would probably be sometime in September, like early-late I would say. Everyone is starting to go back to school and the crowds might start to dwindle more because of it.

I love the off season. I would also say the months of September as well as late January through all of February are best.

September-early October is a great time to go. And it's fun to see all of the fall/Halloween park decorations that start going up at that time. :mickey:

It depends because the Haunted Mansion Holiday would be around by then. Try looking around this page on the Disneyland site.

I'm going around the 16th of October. I looked at historical wait times and the number of people that visited during that time of year. And I decided it was the best time for me to go that fit my schedule. Good luck to you! :D

our plans changed and now we're actually going to be in the parks on the 18th and 19th, so hopefully we'll be avoiding any halloween crowd now. Have fun Bamato!

A couple of my friends went in mid-October and said that there were barely any lines and they only had to wait in line for like 15 minutes.

My family has gone around the second week of November. It is a great time because they are decorating for the Christmas season and the lines are not yet getting long (as I heard they can be around Thanksgiving). Although I would like to go between Thanksgiving and Christmas so we can see the Christmas parade and fireworks, etc.

From my experiences the absolute best time is late January early February. But September is also a great time to go. And if you can catch it on a day where it rains in the morning then clears up in the afternoon its amazing.

I agree whole heartedly with January February. But the one thing you have to be careful of is the ride closures. This is the best time for Disneyland to close rides due to the low crowd volume. So you will see more refurbs and updates during this time. But on the plus side you can sometimes get in before anyone else does, with a soft opening.

We asked a cast member about this once, and they suggested March, as long as you plan to go just before the Spring Break crowd gets out, and prior to Easter.

We've had pretty good success with this, as the weather is usually nice. Spring is just getting started, so it's usually warm, but not too hot. Crowds aren't too heavy and most rides are operational.

Have a good time!
