FIGMENT!!!! Even if this isn't your answer it is true. He was used in education short films about healthy eating after he became popular in the ride.

...
Dang. I knew one of these days I'd come up with something that wasn't entirely unique.
Cheshire got something, but not my answer. (Besides, I wouldn't actually count Aladar - the reference is very minor and he isn't referred to by name.) I actually didn't know that about Bug's Life.
I'm not entirely sure here ... how about this ... I'll tell you that the screen appearance of the character I was thinking of was just over a year later; if anyone guesses, go ahead, otherwise, it's the feline's turn again.

I think CTE and ittbag both opened before their movies came out (Dinosaur and A Bug's Life)
for ITTBAB and ABL - ITTBAB opened April 22, 1998, and ABL opened November 25

CTE and Dino - CTE opened on April 22, 1998. Dino (movie) opened May 19, 2000

Yeah that's true also... I forgot about that. I remember watching them somewhere online. They were very bizzare though...

This is tricky... I've been trying to figure out which character IMFearless is thinking of... Could we have the park? Or would that make it too easy? I'm going to try and guess again...

A character in Fantasmic who's movie release was right around the corner at the time of Fantasmic's premiere in WDW?

I gave you a second bit, OVER A YEAR. DEFINITELY not someone from Fantasmic (though I have a trivia question about that later). Think. WHY would a character appear in an attraction THAT LONG before his appearance?

Hmm. Are you counting parades and/or shows as attractions? Or attractions in the more 'just rides' definition?

I did the same, going through all my maps and all the attractions on them. also, racking my memories of our most recent trip (december 2006). as I have to work early tomorrow, I can't think of it tonight. Maybe something will come to me in a dream...

To not let this topic die (as if), I will throw out that said attraction is in the Magic Kingdom.

Kermit the Frog? He's been in Muppet Vision since 1991 and appeared in A Muppet Christmas Carol in 1992. Although he wasn't officially Disney property until 2004.

Oops, scratch this.

Does this have anything to do with Meet the Robinsons, or Incredibles?

is it Zurg from Buzz Lightyear? Was that ride made before the second movie??
