We used to rush to make the resort monorail but now we stroll around main street in the shops. it's fun, plus there's air conditioning and from the outside you can enjoy icecream and peacefully stair at the castle while it's lit up. I love that feeling.lovesdisney44 wrote:When the park closes what is your plan of action to leave?
When we first started going to WDW, we'd plant ourselves by the exit, watch the fireworks @ MK and then run like heck to our mode of transporation (by bus or boat) to beat the crowds. (I must say, we were nuts!)![]()
Now, after going a few times, we finish what we want, then leisurley stroll along and stop at whatever shops we want, or just look @ all the details in the park. By the time we reach the exit and the bus stop or boat launch all the crowds have diminished and we get to our resort unstressed.![]()
That's the way we love to leave the parks now!

Man, I've always just gone out with the rest of the crowd and fought the lines because, well...I don't really know. I'm going to try it the way you guys have and I bet it will be that much more enjoyable.
Has anyone actually been asked to leave? If you have, how long past closing was it?

We walk around until the crowds get smaller. I love the sights, sounds, and smells of the parks after they close, especially EPCOT. It is actually one of my favorite things about a day at the park.
Walking from Canada all the way around World Showcase back to the main exit after Illuminations. I can't wait to do that again this October. My family and I actually waited so long once that the Monorail stopped running and we had to get a cab back to the Contemporary. I have no idea how long we lingered, but it HAD to be a long time. I was young...

This past year we would just go at our own pace. When the 11pm SpectroMagic parade ended, we headed into the ice cream place or the bakery for a snack. We watched while in air conditioning as everyone fought their way out. We left after the crowd and enjoyed a relatively empty bus. I personally can't handle a crowded bus where I have to stand. I found I only had to do that twice this past trip which was more than enough for me but a lot fewer times than in the past.
It is best to leave without the crowd. Your family will not get separated and you will not get pushed around fighting the crowd.

My family always sit up front by the exit for the firework shows. Its the easiest way to leave and not be stressed and spend an hour walking out.

I love Main Steet USA when most of the other guests have left. I'll get a drink and just sit till they kick me out. After that, I slowly walk out and enjoy every last second there. Same thing at EPCOT. Slow and easy. This way all the guest who rush out just to get into traffic can have their fun. I enjoy leisurely paces. heh

Both of my trips so far have had EMH almost every night so I usually stuck around for those and since people leave at different times during EMH, I never had a huge issue with leaving with masses of crowds. My upcoming 5 day trip only has about 2 evening EMHs though, so I think I'm going to try the hang around until most of the crowd has left trick.

We like to hang around checking out the sites and sounds of the parks, walking slowly. Last May after Wishes, we sat on a bench and talked to a nice couple from Scottland while waiting for the crowds to die down. We'll also do some shopping and last min munching. We do the same thing at DL.
I figure I might as well take my time and ejoy the atmosphere. The only place I am rushing to is a line waiting for the bus to take me "home". I might as well enjoy the last bit of magic that I can!

Yes, I leave with my head held low........
BTW...POP Century has the farthest bus stops at the parks, so plan on walking all the way to the end when it's time to go back to the resort. And it's a long walk at the end of the day!

but i usually hang out and watch everyone scramble to get out, that goes for all parks but if for some reason we need to get out of the and we are at the MK we just jump on the resort monorail. The express on is so crowded and not many people try to get on the resort except if you know. Don't know if it's changed because the last time I did that was when I didn't have a annual pass and so stayed late all the time, probably 5 years ago or so.
