New Job Takes Me Closer To The Magic

Post by horizons1 » Aug Wed 20, 2008 7:11 pm

I debated whether or not to post this but I got a new job that will be taking me on regular trips to Orlando. No, it's not a Disney job. The reason I was hesitant to post this is I didn't want to sound like I was bragging. Instead I hope to share my excitement at this opportunity with fellow Disney fans.

I'm wrapping up a two week orientation trip and used my will power to wait until last Thursday before getting my AP. Of course I had to get an AP. Spent the whole weekend at the parks and then Tropical Storm Fay hit and now I think that might be it for this trip. But as luck would have it I was told I had to come back for a conference in September in, of all places, the Yacht Club. And rooms are included in the conference fee. I am freaking out!

What I could use is some advice on how not to overdose. As a former SoCal resident with a Disneyland pass I know about pacing, trying one new thing on each trip, etc. But any other tips would be appreciated.

WOW!!!

I wish you many happy hours at Walt Disney World! Good luck on the new job too!

Will you have days off to spend in the parks? Or just a few hours a day here and there?

Well, plenty of dinning options to try......

Have you been to WDW ever?

Congratulations! Living in Minnesota I don't have any tips to offer you other than enjoy each chance you get to experience the magic.
Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

Having lived down there for 4 1/2 months, I recommand enjoying and appreciating the little things more...all the different shows and entertainment that most guests might miss on a regular vacation.

All the different tours and stuff are very interesting to check out.

Just sitting down on a park bench and soaking in all the Disney atmosphere that you can get.

In no time, you will know every small detail of WDW :)
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

I've never gone often enough to worry about pacing, so I can't help there, but congrats on the new job! :)

Hard to tell. On the trip I just completed I was there two weeks, so I had a weekend in between to myself. On normal trips I figure I will just go after work. And yes, I have been to WDW many times.

Yes, I did that on this last trip and loved it. I am a big fan of hanging around the parks after they close and waiting until all the crowds dissapate. That gives me time at night (the best time) to soak it in.

Congratulations! It will be nice to be able to just head over there at the end of the day whenever you want and sit on a bench, take in a parade with your Mickey bar (or Dole Whip), and let the magic take you away!! How wonderful!

That is so great! Someday I plan to retire to Disney and maybe even just work there for fun. It has always been a dream of mine to work for Disney. family keeps me in PA though. We visit when we can afford to go but 2009 is not looking very good for us..airfare would kill us and we cannot drive because my son gets very bad car sickness.

I am flying out there Monday for one night. I find what I am doing now is checking which park is open latest and then I can get excited about that. For this trip, it looks like DHS is open intil 9 plus EMH that will at least let me stay later for dinner if I can't ride anything.

How lucky...hope you're having fun! I wish I still lived near to Disneyland...I lived about 45 minutes away up until a year ago, when I moved from Riverside to Chicago. Still miss Disneyland like crazy. :(
