Narnia Prince Caspian "Attraction" Lame

Post by horizons1 » Aug Tue 19, 2008 4:32 pm

I had a few minutes to kill in DHS after riding Midway Mania and decided to do the Prince Caspian walk thru. I could not believe how poor and cheap this was. The "attraction" consisted of three rooms. Room 1 was a preshow where you saw a few minutes of behind the scene footage. Room 2 was what seemed like a ten minute trailer for the movie. Then you are directed to Room 3 to view five or six display cases with props and costumes. That's it. Thank goodness I didn't wait in line for this.

Having not ever walked through the original Narnia attraction, someone please tell me that the original one was better.

....Basically the same idea, but the White Queen came out and spoke.

Oh, and "Welcome Home."

Yep as lion sleeps tonight said pretty much the same thing. And I did stand in line for it.

yeah, we did the original Narnia in December 2006. first room was made up to look like the room with the wardrobe. second room looked like the forest in winter with "the white Witch" who came out, said a couple of lines, then left. after the white witch, a 5 minute (or so) trailer of the movie (which came out the year before and was already out on DVD). then a couple of display cases with memorabilia in an area that I wouldn't even call a room. it was behind some of the trees and was mow like a hallway to the exit than an actual room.

We've always skipped it. Sounds like the memorabilia is the only half-decent thing in that attraction. It also sounds like they could stick that stuff where it would be appreciated more - at the end of the Backlot Tour where most of their memorabilia is and use the extra Narnia space for something actually good.

the problem there is te Narnia space isn't really big enough for an attraction of any real significance (at least it doesn't seem like that big a space). about the beat they could do is a "Stave Church" type of display (what's inside - the viking display) with movie memoribilia. even though they have the AFI showcase at the end of the Backlot tour, they could do more, with changing displays based on specific movies/movie series, TV shows/series, or music artists (kind of like a mini hall of fame kind of thing).

oh thanks alot guys....i was looking forward to this and you ruined it for me! I might as well cancel my trip!

yeah i pretty much agree...sad. there was so much more they could have done but didnt' and it wouldn't have cost more. in fact why not just let the trailers run and make it a walk thru without the wait out front. at least then it would be a nice side attraction like Innoventions..laugh

I thought the 1st one was interesting, nothing special, but nice to get out of the heat for a few minutes. But it is very blah, haven't seen the caspian one, probably still go in a take a stab at it.

I actually enjoyed the first one, though I'm a real junkie for theatrical sets and costumes so that helped a lot. It's fun to see such things at the studios. I'll be heading to see Caspian when I go!
Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

That's exactly what I thought, spodie. That backlot tour can use everything it can get.

And as for getting out of the heat, aboden, I think you'd prefer the hyper detailed Walt Disney museum next door!

See, I saw (but only vaguely remember) the LWW exhibit, and wasn't disappointed because I wasn't expecting much. However, I also remember they presented it as a "making of" exhibit. So it was pretty much similar to the end of the old Backstage Pass when it was a 101 Dalmatians exhibit.
Or, I could be thinking of a Haunted Mansion exhibit, was there one in the same place? See, I don't remember the White Witch....

OH man thanks for the heads up. I checked out the original and found that one a complete joke. I'm a huge movie buff but found the Narnia attraction awful. Sure the forest set was pretty cool. But it was just a sad promo for the movie. And I think seeing the costumes and the weapons in the case in the third room would have been neat to see... if they hadn't ushered us out so freaking fast. Terrible planning and design, for a great idea.

Doesnt surprise me it was lame after going in the LWATW attraction a couple of years ago ...what a missed opportunity.
