Kitchen Cabaret / Food Rocks

Post by ctrain2281 » Aug Mon 11, 2008 8:43 am

Does anyone have nostalgic moments about those attractions. I was explaining to my wife how cool the milk carton singing a remake of "Every Breathe You Take" and she gave me a semi-crazy look.

However, for one of my birthday gifts, she gave me a postcard in a frame with the Kitchen Cabaret characters on it. Pretty cool.

Anyhow, did anyone enjoy these shows or was I just a wierdo?

I LOVED the Kitchen Cabaret! My DH never got to see it, so he doesn't understand why I go crazy when "Veggie Fruit" plays on Subsonic! You're not alone ctrain2281! I was sad to see that attraction go. I remember it from my childhood. :mickey:

Yeah I loved it too when it was there. It's funny how when I was a kid...and we got back to the "real world" I would prefer the Kitchen Cabaret versions of the songs over the ones I was hearing on the radio. Gotta love the Wrapper. :D

My parents loved the show. As a kid, I thought it was boring, but now that I am older, I think I would appreciate it more. I do enjoy the American Adventure and Hall of Presidents now.

I only saw Kitchen Kaberet once, and then Food Rocks every visit. I was really young, so I grew up hearing the food version of the songs before the real things. I first heard the real Bohemian Rhapsody at 10 I think and I was perplexed at the change in words  .

I really liked the characters and the songs in the Kitchen Cabaret. Veggie Fruit-Fruit is a classic. I just hate that attactions like this have to go away to make room for updated or completely new attractions in their place.

I much preferred KK to FR, but both were fun and educational. (Imagine that - educational stuff at Epcot!)

Correct me if I'm wrong - and I hope I am - but Food Rocks isn't on SS yet, right? What's up with that? There's got to be someone out there with this gem...share!

Ha, I just requested Veggie fruit, and then I saw this thread. I loved both shows. The ham and the egg telling jokes. CLASSICS!!!!

I liked the Kitchen Cabaret. I miss it. I know some people laugh at the song Veggie Fruit-Fruit but I think its fun and a classic and often it breaks up the time between some of the slower songs. I'm really glad to know that there are other fans out there of both the original show and that song. You can still see the Robotic skeleton of Bon Appetite of one of those backstage tours, it was freaky.

Man, I forgot about the egg telling the ham jokes. Classic stuff! So, I am curious though. Assumably, most of the animatronics were sold via ebay or otherwise given away? Call me crazy, but wouldn't that be the ultimate in home decorations to have the singing milk carton or food wrapper in your basement or living room!

Veggie, Veggie, Fruit, Fruit has fond memories for me as well. My mom and I still occasionally burst into song with that. S'weird to think how many years it's been since we've seen it (or rather, since we've been able to see it). Food Rocks was fun too, though.

ctrain, Mr. Ham and Mr. Egg are still in the WDW Easter Parade. At least they were last time I saw it. And if you go on .. the Backstage Magic (I think?) tour, you can see Bonnie Appetit. She's in the animatronic prop house, demonstrating how animatronics work. No idea what became of the rest of the group, though.

KK is classic FR was nice and interesting but I still prefered KK.

"Hey why was chicken little so upset the other day?"
"His mother fell asleep in the hot tub and he was born..hard boiled!!"

Will never forget it.

My favorite part of Food Rocks was the finale when everyone (except chubby cheddar) was there. I don't think you're crazy at all. It was one of the funnest shows even if no one watched it.
