True, at least on Horizons you couldn't really see the top of the screen. Soarin' always seems a little fake when the simulator leans back and there is the top of the screen.packwingfn wrote:I've watched my home vacation videos of my family and I and when we taped us on Horizons, when we got to the Omnimax scene, I'm whining about how high we were and how I was scared lol. That's how real it looked in a way...It was even a little better than soarin'

Re: Horizons Omnimax Movie
I dont recall ever seeing it anywhere. Course the moving Tetris-esque pieces and (I think) the rocket launch are bits recycled from If You Had Wings. Trying to remember thw whole movie loop and if there were any other recycled bits.Fantasrick wrote:Does anyone know if there is a copy of the omnimax film from Horizons still out there?

The best Horizons tribute site I have found is www.horizons1.com. They even have a recreated ridethrough with the entire omnimax movie.

at the very bottom of the media page they have this file
Horizons Ultimate Tribute
Using 4 video recordings, original music tracks, remastered narration and including the full Omnimax film and all 3 endings. AVI, by Martin Smith
could be just what you are looking for, though it's nearly an hour long and 445MB...

At one time the full loop was on youtube and it looks as if it was source video. I have no idea if it was an imagineer or cast member, but the video disappeared a couple of years ago. It was excellent quality, definitley not filmed on the ride itself.I have never seen any film specifically covering the Omnimax film alone.
I'm thinking it was just like the dilhema where a Unversal employee videotpaed the entire film of Back to the Future the Ride (and then was quickly fired).

Martin defnitely makes the best videos, I would recommend checking his stuff out if you haven't in the past. I have like all of his videos on my computer, and his files are HUUUGE but are great for passing the time.
