in all the information I have (pamphlets, internet, etc), it looks like there is a water slide of some form. I've yet to actually see a picture of it though.

It's a very dizzying spiral slide inside a faux melting sandcastle. It's relatively new and fills in every available inch of space between the main pool and the baby pool (there's even a "bridge" between the back of the sandcastle and the baby pool, where it looks as if a waterfall is flowing off the castle into the baby pool.
The thing that's really cool about the slide is at night, the "sand" behind the waterfalls sparkles with LEDs. There's also a hidden mickey on the outside of the castle (besides the obvious tunnel).

OKW is a fantastic resort. As Cheshire mentioned, it was the first DVC club and we bought into it and stayed there the first 5 years or so before the other resorts started popping up. After we started staying at the others it seemed they outweighed OKW with either better locations or ammentities and OKW started to slip in our ranking and began staying at either BWV or BCV and even SSR. But in the past few years we started going back to OKW and forgot how peaceful it was and also as mentioned how the room layouts seemed better for larger families.
It does have that home away from home feel that you almost don't get at the other DVC resorts.

We're staying at OKW for the first time in Feb. We've stayed at BWV (home resort) and SSR. We actually were trying for AKL but were surprised to find it was already booked.

My friend just asked me if I put in for a room request here. I didn't, figuring anywhere is fine with me! Wondering, though, does anyone have any particular building/room that's a favorite? Do you pretty much get the same view throughout the resort? It's getting close, and I thought I'd better ask soon if I'm going to!

I would recommend bldngs 23-29 because they are a short walking distance from the Hospitality House (Check-in) area, and you're located along the Sassagoula River. Also, you're close to the Penninsular bus stop, which is the first bus stop on property. You'd be first to get on the bus as it makes its rounds through the resort.
