It's very hard but If I go anywhere with my friends on "vacation" (aka to another state somewhere for fun) then I would defnitely ask my friends to help chip in for gas so that way it isn't so bad when you look at it. But I will probably not go to Six Flags this summer because it is a lot of miles away which just isn't worth it with the price of gas increasing and because it isn't Disney World. I would rather save my money up for my next Disney Vacation! (September!!!)
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

well they say we are affected in some way with the gas prices going up. As far as flying goes, a lot have airlines are charging a lot more for a second luggage bag, some are even charging for the first bag, which is new to me. They claim its to off set the high prices they're paying for fuel. I only carry one case, but I know some people who say they're finally gonna have to learn to pack light for Disney.

In a word, No. Even at $4.00 per gallon that is still a small portion of a vacation budget when you consider the cost of lodging, food etc.

Depends on the vacation type. If I am flying somewhere I try to use my discounts and tricks to get a better price. If I am driving I try to go with others so they can pitch in for gas. Granted I drive less than 3000 miles in a year, so adding another trip basically doesn't cost "that much more". Yes it costs the same as the rest of you but since I don't usually spend a lot on gas I get to save money every month anyway.

If it sounds like I am rambling I am. I'm trying to do 3 things at once, chatting, listening to podcasts, and typing this. Sorry.

Nothing in relationship to our big trip plans. Disney every 2-3 years (2010 next trip) and our annual trip to the NCAA Ice Hockey championship - yet.

We do pay much closer attention to if it is cheaper to fly/drive though. Try to do the most cost effective.

We've curbed all auxillary trips though. IE, could have had airfare to either LA or Orlando for $199 RT in December to see Christmas lights in the parks but chose not to do it.

Congrats SWHorn!!! I hope you'll share a picture of your bundle of joy when he/she arrives, make sure you get them Mouse Ears A.S.A.P.

Back on topic, we have no travel plans this year, we're moving to our new house in 3 weeks, we're pretty drained from our money. I hope when we do make our next trip to WDW (hopefully Christmas '09) to see the Mouse, plane tickets aren't too high?! We definitely try to stay close to home! Too $$$$! :x
