typically the wait times are very rough estimates using those random card/badges they use in the lines. but for soarin, the wait can't be less than 30 minutes on a normal day in august. We go in the last week of august (when a lot of kids are back in school) and the wait is still 60-80 minutes. i suggest try getting fastpasses as soon as you arrive in epcot, or check, the bulletin board in futureworld to check the status of all of the rides like test track, mission space, living with the land, etc.

How long is the show itself? It seems that even with zero crowds, there's a baseline wait that can't be avoided.

All hail the genius of the Omnimover.

Definitely not. And I will use Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin as my proof. When it first opened you had a three hour wait and the fastpasses were all distributed by early afternoon. Now, you can always get a fastpass and the stand by was only 25-35 minutes. However, this is different since it is an omnimover.

All hail the genius of the Omnimover.

Preshow is about 3 minutes; show is about 5 minutes; handles ~100 people per show. un/load sequence takes about 3 minutes.

But yes if the "feed" is greater than about 10 people/minute you get a queue.
