Old School Cartoons on Resort TV

Post by spodie » Jul Sun 20, 2008 10:55 pm

Ok, so has anybody seen the loop of the old Disney cartoons on WDW Resort TV? I never caught this before, but the last time I was in WDW, I saw the Pluto cartoon where a mean cat taunts Pluto all day. When Pluto falls asleep, he dreams that the same cat is actually his servant who basically worships him. At one point in the cartoon, the cat does something that Pluto doesn't like, so the cat starts crying, pulls a gun out, HOLDS IT TO HIS HEAD, and shoots it (but Pluto was able to knock it away before anything bad happened).

It makes me laugh to see how "far" we've come. I know that when this cartoon came out people would have laughed. Now it's offensive, probably racist (in some way, someone will twist it), and, of course, our favorite - Politically Incorrect.

This one is my favorite in the loop because it's refreshing to see something that's Politically Incorrect for a change. So, what are your favorites in this loop or in general?

I love to watch the 'Old School' cartoons, just to see the superior artistry. You can see how much painstaking time was taken to get them well... perfect, as opposed to the animated series we see churned out on Disney Channels. :x Walt would get the whip out and tell them get up to standard or get out. Bring back the perfection it was a Disney trademark.

Spodie, if you want a politically incorrect cartoon, watch either of Seth McFarland's creations (Family Guy or American Dad). Just be ready for crassness to go with the political incorrectness!

Yeah, I love Family Guy! Can't get into American Dad, though - it just doesn't interest me.

I like the political incorrectness of the older cartoons though because when they were made, there was no Politically Correct or Incorrect. Now, Family Guy and American Dad were made just so they can be Politically Incorrect. I think there's a difference. Does that make any sense?

This channel is 98 on the Deluxe Resorts only. That's as much as I know. If my family and I are stuck in our resort for some time or I want to watch something good before bed I put this on.

A year ago there was this old classic called "Autograph Hound" with Donald Duck. It's one of my favorites. Donald hounds all of these elite stars in an exclusive Hollywood set. In the end everyone is asking for his autograph.
I also love "Lambert". This cartoon is about a lion that grows up with a herd of sheep. He grows up timid and weak. However one night his mother is being attacked by a coyote and Lambert runs to her rescue. It's so adorable and it has a catchy theme song, "Lambert, the sheepish lion..."

Anyway, if you're ever in a Deluxe Resort check it out!

As weird as it sounds, I would enjoy WDW Resort TV on satellite. It would give me a periodic fix, although it would make me wish I was there.

Simon, I agree 100%. I know Disney wouldn't make any money broadcasting the Resort TV, but what if they offered it as part of a total package? Pay a certain amount each month and receive: Disney Channel, Toon Disney, Resort TV, Daily WDW update channel, and classic cartoon channel. Would you pay for that? I sure would!

What about streaming online? They do like a pay-per-view online. I would be more willing to pay for that than I would to pay for another package.

WVParkfan, yes I would pay for that! Glad to see there are other people out there that are as weird as me.

I would definately pay for resort TV. As for the old school cartoons I love them and wistfully remember when they played them on Disney Channel. I can't stand to watch the Disney Channel now. I guess I'm too old for it now, lol im 36. I wish they would come up with an old school channel, you know similar to Boomerang that cartoon network has. It would be awesome.

I would definitely pay for this. As long as the put back all the old shows on the Disney channel and took away Jetix from Toon Disney. It's all good.

That is an EXCELLENT idea! Low cost for Disney, and easy access for anyone in the world. Now, how do we get them (Disney) to do this?

I was always weirded out by the Donald Duck cartoon where his nephews get him a box of cigars for his birthday, he misunderstands, and forces them to smoke the entire box. This would get an R rating today. Yikes.
