Pirates of the Caribbean WaterPark!
Last year it was announced that there would be a Pirates of the Caribbean water park and pictures were released of what it would look like. Since than I haven't heard squat.
Does anyone know anything about this?

POTC Water Park
I'll have to search for them. They were just sketches I believe.DisBeamer wrote:Never heard of this at all. Got any links to the pictures?

Hmm. When I saw this thread, I had the same feeling as when I read about the new 'Harry Potter Land' coming to Universal - something that may not be the best idea in the long run. It seems like there will be a few prosperous years while they capitalize on something that has recently become popular, but will it continue to flourish? With the 'Pirates' movies over, there is nothing new (Pirates-wise) to bring to the tables that will be broadcast across the nation, which would in turn promote a trip to this theoretical water park (just like the 'Pirates' movies generated more enthusiasm for the theme park attraction). From what I've seen, the whole 'pirates' fad hinted at fading out before 'At World's End' even came out in theaters last year, and now that the series is over (from everything I've heard at least) it will probably continue to die.
I think Disney IS better than this and can think of a better, more general-themed water park that will be more "timeless" than something that has reflected a fad.
Oh yeah, sorry to put a damper on this thread - feel free to argue because I'd really like to hear an opinion from another side!

I couldn't agree more. Disney has done to much of this during the Eisner years. They should know by now that it will just cost them in the long run. I'd love to see the piece on this, if for nothing else, just to see who wrote it.spodie wrote:Hmm. Hmm. Well that article puts it opening last summer... and was written before Depp et al joined the actual ride. So I'm wondering if perhaps that idea was tanked when they decided to update the ride itself.AVITWeb wrote:I was able to find this (from 2005) http://www.insidear.com/oldsite/pressro ... 0107.shtml

Some of the things in that article don't sound quite right, though. Such as:
That doesn't sound like it would fly. I don't know anything about this site, but are we sure it wasn't a joke?To keep with the theme while obeying applicable safety laws, many pirate-costumed lifeguards will be on duty at all time, but rescued children will be put in the brig awaiting "ransom" payment from their family instead of being immediately returned to their parents.

After reading this article, I've come to the conclusion it's a parody. Read it closely, it's not real. Come on the guy they got the quote from has the last name "Merlot". There are so many red flags. It's funny, but not real.
