I was 6...it was Feb of 1974. I remember bits really. I was over excited the entire time. The characters roamed freely back then. No meet and greet areas. No handlers. You would just turn a corner and BOOM....the 7 Dwarfs. I remember being terrified of the characters. I remember wanting to buy everything in the emporium. I remember getting my first pair of mickey ears. Dinner at King Stefans and passing out before dinner. Waking up in time for crepes. heh Swimming with my sisters. I have super8 film here of it all. My dad managed to catch me on the bridge to Tomorrowland staring at the Swan Boats. They were so beautiful to me. You can still see the bumpers under the bridges as well as the control boxes at the rose garden pavillion.

After that trip....I've been hooked ever since. :mickey:

My First Time

Post by earningmyfins » Jul Thu 10, 2008 10:41 pm

I was only 7 months and since then I've been coming every year and staying for a month with my family. I don't exactly remember how I felt the first time I came in January but my mom got everything on tape. At the Mickey PartiGras (sp?) parade I was thrilled and clapping my hands. At the end of the parade I was so sleepy.

I think that coming to Disney every year in the summer is like visiting it again for the first time. It's thrilling and exciting.

First trip I was a 30 something. I was with a large group of friends (9 of us) the ages ranged from the oldest at 35 to the youngest at just 6. By the time we got into MK we were all aged 6. Wide eyed and open mouthed in wonder and amazement. :o

The DW and I have been back every year since.

I honestly don't remember. I was 8 the first time we visited WDW. But, we had been going to Disneyland prior to (and after that). I didn't return to WDW and start my regular vacationing there until I was 16.

I wish I did have memories of the emotions of being there for the first time.

I went several times as a child. In 1980, my family moved from Florida to Georgia and our only family trip came in 1987. My grandparents traveled with us, and it was the first time they were able to go to Disney World! That trip is a time that I have relived over and over again in my mind! I remember hearing and seeing my grandparents cry with tears of joy because it was their first time at WDW. I was a teenager then and my dad videoed almost ever second of that two day trip! Sometimes now, when my family gets together on the weekends, we'll get out that video and watch, with a smile and a tear, my grandparents act like two kids at Disney! It would be their only time to go because they both passed away in 1992. It was truly special!

I was 15 my first time at WDW. I was really bummed out, my mom and step-dad made me go to Florida instead of spending the summer vacation with my friends in Brooklyn. I think I was a little butt head the whole drive from NY.

Once we got to WDW, I couldn't get enough of it. We stayed for a week and all there was at the time was the MK. It was so much different then, There where aspects of all the current parks in the MK then, with the exception of the AK.

I have very found memories, I still can't believe what a little ass I was.

I was lucky to go a lot when I was younger through connections my father had with his work. I don't remember the first time, but the first time I can remember it was the greatest feeling. I remember driving up and not being able to sit still, then parking at the contemporary and seeing the monorail. That first time down main street was too cool and i wanted the day to never end. I still get that same excited feeling every time I go. I just can't wait till december when I get to take my niece for her first trip and see her reactions.

first time in WDW omg....that was 14 years ago i was six years old and i remember staying at the Yacht Club concierge level and i could see Epcot from our room, and being a typical 6 year old i needed every characters autograph and that meant i needed to see MICKEY MOUSE. My favorite ride back then and still to this day is Pirates of The Caribbean. :mickey:

My first trip to the World was a business trip. We were a little disappointed, especially with the Magic Kingdom. We didn't take our first "vacation" trip to WDW until 6 years later, after our daughter was born.

Our first "vacation" trip as a family was truly magical, and hearing my daughter scream with delight when she saw the castle for the first time... well, it brings a tear to my eye just to think about how wonderful that moment was.

You never forget those memories or feeings! I also remember being in the pool at the Poly. I think that's why the smells in the lobby of the Poly bring back such strong memories! It's wonderful.

Wow, I think I was 3 or 4 my first trip and was at the Polynesian as well and to this day that lobby still brings back a lot of the memories of my first trip. Tomorrowland Indy Raceway, Tom Sawyer's Island, and Swiss Family Treehouse were other from that first trip - good stuff.
