We had left a city in the Los Angeles area, know as Downey. We traveled up the mountains to a lodge called Mount baldy, I think it was, and it was wonderful. It was an old lodge, with various types of pines and such, and inside the lodge was a small game room, with two pinball machines. The pinball machines were big stuff back then. My sister and I were playing pin ball, and mom went into the next room to buy us sodas. Next thing we knew, a young man was standing off to the side watching us play, as my sister and I laughed over the simple fun of a pin ball game. Then he approached us, and said hello, my name is Walt Disney. Of course, we had no idea who he was at that point in time, the park had just opened. My mother came in at that point and he introduced himself to her as well. He was a very kind, simple person who showed great love towards all children. He explained to my mother that he had just opened a park in Anahiem, and offered tickets to our whole family, and invited us to visit the park free as his guest.
That is the kind of man that Walt Disney was, and I shall never forget his unselfish way that he offered his kindness and generosity to our family.
This was a simple act, indeed, but one of true human love.
