A few of these could use work and COP needs the boot, or to be COMPLETELY changed! I went w/Tom Sawyer Island since I have yet to go on it, it does not have much of a draw, but I plan to try it on my next visit to WDW. I alos agree w/Calypso, update the Speedway already! Next hit the U of E and if the JC is that much better in Japan, then get on it in Florida!!

Space Mountain, for sure! I've heard good things about the DL refurb. I wouldn't mind the same changes for the DW version.

Star Tours is a pretty good ride, even though I voted it for needing an update. The queue is awesome, so is the outside of the building. But I knew that those jiggle in a box rides would never last, Body Wars is already gone. I suggest and Animatronic show in its place.

Most of those are pretty good options (Soaring seems far too new to have to be refurbed let alone shutting down a premier ride at EPCOT may cause a medium scale riot) but I think UoE and ST are good candidates, assuming the SM refurb actually happens. :mickey:

I say Universe of Energy. While not being a big Ellen fan anyway, the entire attraction needs a total re-do. The topic of energy is so relevant today, and UoE could be so much more than it is. As it stands, it's become more of a must-miss attraction for me.

FIX THE MOUNT!

Post by wonderland » Jun Mon 16, 2008 3:09 pm

Space Mountain is DEFINITELY the most lacking these days...just have a look at the great atmosphere when you get off the ride...a worn out blue carpet, nothing on the walls, and somebody's hand trying to get you out of the car. I live in California where SM was updated three years ago, and it is magnificent. No more chocolate chip cookies flying overhead...just a really smooth, fast, DARK ride with updated music playing loudly enough to hear.

I heard Star Tours is already in the works.

Soarin at Disneyland's California Adventures is called Soarin Over California, which is accurate. Perhaps WDW's version could incorporate other parts of the U.S.

Also in California, Tom Sawyer's Island has been updated to include theming from the Pirates movies...we now call it Pirate's Lair...pretty good.

California has a few blunders too, just in case you thought I was a'braggin'. The new Nemo sub ride was not worth the two million year wait...WDW's Nemo ride at the Living Seas is fabulosity in comparison. :nemo:

Rumor mill has Space Mountain and Star Tours scheduled for enhancements in 09.

I'd like to see Energy get revamped to at least become somewhat topical. How many updates has Spaceship Earth had over the years to at least try and keep up with communications innovations?

I wish they could update and put back the old Emil Radok pre-show in Energy, but there's no chance of that. That and the original pre-show for Imagination were amazing with all of the multi-image projectors.

I like space mountain the way it is, but hearing about a Star Tours makes me smile. I love Star Wars so I ride this ride, but it needs help.

Test Track is ridicules. The taxi drove faster than that on my way to the airport. It's the only ride more boring than Snoaring, oops I ment Soaring.Image

I voted for Space Mountain b/c it's just gotten so bumpy and uncomfortable to ride. Riding the one in Disneyland is like heaven compared to WDW's. We need a refurb absolutely!

Star Tours DEFINATELY should come in a close second.

I voted for COP.

I couldn't disagree more! I think COP could certainly use an update. Let's face it VCR's aren't even used any more (for the most part) and that's about the top tech in the show. That said, to want to get rid of it? For me that would be like saying Splash or Jungle has to go.

I also agree that the Island needs something done with it. I haven't had my kids there since they were 8 (14 and 15 now). There is just not a lot to do there. With Disney's flair there could be something great there. It's just a lot of wasted space. (this is bad) Disney could do New Orleans before, during and after the storm. Think of what kind of thrill ride that could be! They could have some great places to eat with this theme also. (I did say it was BAD!)
