Peter Pan's Island at Disney World

Post by Cazza and Livvie's Mum » Jun Tue 17, 2008 2:58 pm

I noticed on a different thread that someone was wanting ideas on what to do with the old Discovery Island. I think it should be a themed island totally dedicated to Peter Pan. Mermaid Lagoon, the Indian Camp, etc. Hook's ship and his motley crew moored offshore ready to confront Pan and the Lost Boys. Let me know what you think. :peter_pan: I got quite excited at the very thought of such a magical place :!:

I voted yes...but i think they have enough to mix it with Pirates. Perhaps call it Skull Island with the town of Tortuga on it. mix it up, if they have both...it will appeal to all ages. the other reason is.....ask a kid who Jack Sparrow is and ask a kid who Peter Pan is...then ask him which one he wants to be for Halloween.

this would also preserve Adventureland.

This is a good idea but I don't think it will ever happen. I think this, because they don't even sell peter pan pins anymore. He's been replaced with tinkerbell.

I don't think it'll ever happen because the island isn't big enough to handle any volume. If they used it again it would have to be for some sort of low key (or very exclusive) function.

I voted yes, but I think Croaker's idea would be cool. There are a few franchises that might fit on the island if it was themed a little more broadly. I wonder if they'll ever do anything with it now. Is it still considered a zoological preserve? I would think if they wanted to develop it into a themed area they'd have to get it 'uncertified' or whatever.

I think its a great Idea although its probably not the only one. What I like best is the name of the island, Neverland or Neverneverland. It has Land in the name just like all the other Lands in Magic Kingdom. I love Peter Pan and I think the island may be big enough if the right attractions were placed there. Pirates, Mermaids, Indians, and the lost boys. There's plenty to work with, but something would have to be done with the current Peter Pan ride, 'cause I don't think Disney would seperate the ride from the land, Maybe they could change the ride to Alice in Wonderland. WOW Wonderland that too ends with land, that could be a good theme too, for someplace else. Not for old Discovery Island beacause its an island and so was neverland, that what makes that idea so perfect.

no because it would not be fair to all the other fantasyland characters. although that would be a nice change for all the kids.
Hava magical day everyone!

I voted yes. It would be a fresh, new idea and it could definitely work. It would be nice to see traffic back on the island.

I like the idea but worry about the application. How would you control crowd numbers on and off the Island? I'm sure fire regulations would limit the numbers. In an emergency the little rafts that currently ferry people accross wouldn't be able to cope.
So a different method of reaching the Island would be needed. Like a bridge or two.
Where would you put them and would they stop the Liberty Belle from sailing?
Tunnels perhaps, although they may be a flood risk in a Florida downpour?

Wow I sound like a proper Grump :(

I like the idea of mixing it up a bit with Pirates although it will muddle the stories a bit.
I am going to vote yes anyway and let someone else worry about all the details :)

My sentiments exactly! It's never going to happen but just dreaming and imagining never hurt anyone :D

I only voted "whatever" because as long as whatever they do is done well, it won't matter to me.

I'm generally for change, although there is a time and place for keeping things around for the sake of nostalgia. This is probably not one of those cases for me, though.

Yes. It's such a waste of good property, especially when ideas like this could add a well themed attraction that would be so different from anything else.
