Haunted Mansion new Ideas and Efffects you would suggest

Post by garyman » Mar Fri 28, 2008 11:46 am

As the Haunted Mansion gets older it would be nice to see some new special effects throughout the ride. Make your suggestions here. Maybe someday they will implement some of them.

I personally would like to see some more effects as you go through tthe hallway of doors. Possibly some 3D Graphics scenes of ghosts peering through the doors themselves.

The Attic renovation is definitely nice. :)

I would enjoy seeing more shadows like the shadowy organist in there. I always thought that idea was very cool.

Temperature changes would be a neat addition too. They always say that ghosts are all about cold temps or whatever. That could be very neat.

Phantom Manor uses a dynamic soundtrack in their ride. I think that would be lovely to have in HM as well. :D

Oh, I love the organist. He's one of the parts I enjoy in the attic.

I've always been a huge fan of the haunted mansion, and wouldn't want to change it for anything. Mainly for nastalgic purposes. But.... I would definately change a few things in the graveyard just for a better look. It would be cool if they could find a way to prevent you from seeing the ghoulies that pop up from behind the headstones before the pop up at you. It would cause more "suspense" :)

If they could replace all the animatronics and remake them with today's compliance technology so they move better would be awesome, though they look pretty darn good right now. I love the changes they made already, so they really don't need to touch this ride.

At night I would like to see some type of hologrpahic projection showing a ghost or two emerging from the graveyard as you wait in line, or occassionally showing on top of the house.

That would be cool.
I also miss the Undertaker face character that would be around in the 80s and 90s (and possibly earlier). He was dressed up like one of the other castmembers, but a little more colorfully. When the line was long during the summer he'd pop out and go through the crowd, chatting people up and making jokes. It was just a cool little touch to keep people entertained while they wait in line. Doesn't really qualify as new technology, but thought I'd throw it out there.

I like the holographic ghost projection idea actually :) It would be something to keep you occupied at night when in line. Only problem is that I don't remember the last time there was actually a wait when I went on HM at DLR.... :P

Hm Holiday will take care of that. It's rather funny actually. The last few times I've been there has been a line during the day for Haunted Mansion, but at night it's been a walk on. It's a complete 180 of what it was like before. I'm not sure why, but still interesting to note.

My wife and I do really like the new attic though, the paintings of the Bride and her husbands are good and the Bride is actually pretty creepy (although the effect isn't very good on her face). I'm not sure if someone has commented on this, but it is kind of sad to see the story switch away from the ship captain leaving and the bride missing him and haunting the mansion until he comes back to a standard murdering bride schtick. Although it's of course debatable whether the ship captain story is the original or just made up to go with the weather vane at the top of the mansion. In either case, dig the new attic effects.

Yeah I heard about the original plot line for Haunted Mansion and I think it would have been really cool. There is evidence though. At WDW I think parts of the DL version there are photos of boats and a ship captain... I saw it on my Haunted Mansion walkthrough dvd I got from extinctattractions.

So is the line pretty terrible during the HM holiday? It will be my first time going this year during the holiday. I'm going in October, so supposedly from what I've read thats the slowest times of the year because school is just starting.

The line isn't too long, mabye an hour max, but it still is the HM, so it moves quickly. They have the carols playing in the queue and the overlay on the outside is amazing, so it passes very quickly. In any case, there are the fastpasses available too, so the line isn't that much of a hassle.
I hope you enjoy your first trip! I suggest you definitely go during the night, as the outside is AMAZING at night, and they have the back courtyard part of the queue filled with fog and have cool lights, etc. It's really a blast.

i think that they should add the wdw staircase that glows, the disney tokyo library which features books that walk on the ground and a catacomb from disneyland paris. i know this is a lot but those are my favorite scenes! :D
