any specifc reason why?
There are plenty of intensity warnings before you get on the ride, however if you experience this attraction, you need to keep your head back and keep your eyes focused on the video screen in front of you at all times. If you turn your head away from the screen or close your eyes, you can become disoriented and likely to become sick. :P

Hmm...maybe that's why I had such a problem with the ride. When I got scared, I wouldn't look at the screen anymore--probably caused all the yucky feelings?

My wife had the same problem...

When the pressure of the G-forces frightened her, she closed her eyes and looked away from the screen, making herself that much worse! Needless to say, she had a terrible experience and probably will never ride Mission Space again. :(

I was hosting a group of Disney Execs at WDW before the attraction opened and we had a chance to visit the pavillion during the final stages of testing, when the interior theming was being finished and the Imagineers were still perfecting the sync between the visual and the movement of the ride. They were working on the first centrifuge, and seemed to be experiencing lots of problems with timing to avoid causing motion sickness. I remember this poor Imagineer telling us he had been riding 30+ times per day... a job I was happy not to have!

The whole ride is based upon the illusion of artifical gravitational forces being created by a centerfuge. If you allow the movie, sound effects(statically in the head rest behind you) and vibration signals effect you the way the ride is intended the side force of being spun gets thrown out by your brain. This is because the majority of your senses say you arent spinning, thus your body decides it must be your inner ear not functioning properly and ignores it. If you take away your visual cue's that your "world" is not rotating wildly in a circle your inner ear sensations can be interpreted more correctly by your brain and you will get to feel the spin. That may not be a perfect biological explaination, but I think its close enough.

I thought this was a wonderful ride. It is not violent in a jerky motion way, but the "launch" forces were quite amazing and sustained. You can get a similar feeling on one of those rides which launches you up a tower, but you dont get the sustained feeling to go with it.

Yes the story plot is lacking, but there had to be some reason to go someplace. If there wasn't some sort of thrilling climax then it might not appeal to some people I guess. Though even an uneventful version would still be a blast in my opinion. :)

Sounds logical...perhaps I'll have to give it another try with my eyes OPEN!

I thought Mission To Mars had a good story.

I never could understand why the duck would initiate a crash landing warning though... ;)

I rode it by myself last October. DH chickened out after he say the signs saying it was a "spinny" ride. All the suggestions are correct - if you just look ahead and not to the side during the ride you won't get sick (if you're prone to that type of thing)

Anyway, the ride was awesome! Only once a day for me, though. :?

Ok, so from reading these reviews on Mission Space, DO NOT EAT before going on this ride  I can't wait to get down to WDW and try it out!

That's a very good idea. :) While they were building the attraction, rumor had it among the WDW cast that rubber flooring was being installed in the exit area to make "protein spill" cleanups easier.

BAAAAH ... wusses...

I rode Mission Space 5 times in one day.

Rode it in the morning, in the afternoon, at night, with an empty stomach, and once right after a big meal from the Electric Umbrella...

I am invincible!
