Where should we stay? And why?
Choices are Port Orleans French Quarter or Coronado Springs. It is a Grand Gatherings trip, 7 adults and four children (ages 2-6).

I also voted for Port Orleans. I have only stayed at Riverside but really love the atmosphere. Like metsofny said it is very peaceful and a nice change of pace from the busy parks. One of the thing we love about Port Orleans is being able to take the ferry to DTD! This is my favorite resort with plenty of things to do for young children (playgrounds, nicely themed pools ect) but also a great atmosphere for adults. Whatever resort you choose I am sure you will have an awesome time going with so many people!! Have fun and let us know where you decided to stay.
i'll cast my vote Sept.10th. when i get back from staying at Port Orleans French Quarter.
side note: friends of ours that are/were (still not sure) who have a DVC always stay at POFQ if they go for short trips and don't use their DVC.

If you look closely, the building layouts and courtyards seem nearly identical, just decorated differently.
Port Orleans is still our favorite non-delux resort. Romantic. Fun. SHADE! Coronado has little relief from the sun. Plus, the boat transportation to Downtown Disney is a fun albiet slower alternative transportation! WARNING: Coronado is a conference center which chances the atmosphere...

I voted for Port Orleans French Quarter. I think its more of an intimate resort experience then staying at Coronado. I have stayed at the PO Riverside time have have always enjoyed my stays.
I have also stayed at Coronado. I do like the resort, but it is massive. To make it a good experience you have to stay in a room near the food court. If not its a pain to have to get a bus to get something to eat. I also think the Coronado suffers from the amount of conventions it has. All those people who attend events distract from the over resort experience. It just feels like you don't belong.

Geez, CS is getting trounced. That said, I voted POFQ.
I haven't stayed at CS but I've toured it. Giant, spread out, (in my mind) poorly laid out and full of convention-ers. The prices in some of the in-resort dining reflect the fact that many of the people staying there are paying with expense accounts.
We've stayed at POFQ several times and really enjoyed it. I like the fact that it's compact, the theming is very good and the boat ride to DTD is a cool added perk (though it may be a little more depressing at the moment with the Treehouses knocked down). You also have the benefit of having access to POR amenities if you're at FQ. Big thumbs up for this resort from me.

Another Port Orleans French Quarter. I think it is the better of the two options for a big family gathering.
