I could be wrong, but I believe I have heard the "HERE where you see..." audio before, and my assumption was that it was from DL. The former is the way I've always remembered it.
Yeah, I'm starting to be not so sure about what it is. Maybe it has always been there, but whenever Disney released the audio on cd, they dropped that second "Here". I think even all the hm audio on this site has the "here-less" version. Maybe the audio was changed in an ealier refurb.?
It's weird either way...

Can't wait to see it. I always thought that the old feel of the ride was part of the charm but I'm sure I'll like the updates.

It's really not that much different. This is one instance where I believe the changes were for the better. It was just enough change without messing up what made it great. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I queued up Disneyland - New Orleans Square - haunted mansion - stretch room & hall (for science!

) just to listen to it, because I don't remember a 2nd 'here' either, from my usual experience. If you listen to that particular track you can hear a skip, where it sounds sorta like that 2nd 'here' might have been edited out. Or maybe just failed over time and they put in a restored track for this past refurb? Interesting mystery.
I do remember thinking in December that the track in the stretching room was a little different though (well, the spoken part; the track is obviously different with the whispering ghosts). The 'because' definitely stood out to me. I wonder if they just found a cleaner track to put in.
The one thing that stood out to (and bothered) me was the newer voice in the load area. I realize it's not possible to have Paul Frees record the spanish track (being that he's dead and all), and it does sound cleaner having it be one voice, but it got me to wondering how long it'll be before the whole track is replaced by someone else as a result of fiddly changes like that. Not that the other guy's
bad. Just different.

Yes, it would be a shame to loose the entire track. Paul Frees really is a big part of what made the attractions so great and Disney should do everything possible to make sure as much of his work is preserved as can be.

We really missed this attraction last summer and can't wait until July so we can see it with the new stuff!!! I'm glad to hear that the changes were good!
Cheshire Cat: Thanks for the tip about staying to hear the gargoyles. Sounds fun!

As someone that usually hates any change to Disney classic attractions, I can honestly say that the changes at HM were for the better. It's a nice upgrade and only adds to the greatness in my opinion.

I thought the refurb was great. Also, was it my imagination, or did they add some color to the ghosts in the ballroom sequence. I seem to remember in the past, they were merely grey ghosts. This time, there appeared to be some green and oranged to there presences. Anybody else notice that?

Yeah, I think the whole lighting scheme was changed in that scene and that may have given the appearance of more color.

that sounds so cool i cant wait to go see it. I have seen videos of it on youtube but the quality was so bad and since it is still so dark on the ride there is no way of being able to watch it but the things that i could see were great and sad to say that the best haunted mansion is not at disneyland but at disney world.

This attraction needed an update and I think they did an awesome job!!! The sound system is now great! But, they didn't get rid of the best parts, like the ballroom scene. I give WDW an A+++ on updating this attraction.
Just hope they don't ruin Space Mountain!

Can someone fill me in on what the deal is with the rose on Master Gracey's tombstone in the front of the mansion. Sometimes it's there and sometimes it's not. Is it just supposed to be an eerie detail for us repeat visitors? If so, it's one of my new favorite details.

The rose has actually been there for a while. I remember seeing it in 2000/01. I think the 'sometimes there, sometimes not' is more to do with whether or not the cast members have replaced it for a certain day or not, depending on what time you're there. Though they might have assigned a story to it that I haven't heard, a la the (now gone) wedding rings?
