Actually there is plenty of space around World Showcase. I found an aerial photograph of Epcot on terraserver.microsoft.com. A CM friend helped me with identifying the different countries and the empty areas:

The highlighted areas are all too small to fit a country (look at size of empty area versus size of pavilion next to it).

And regarding the space between China & Germany, Germany extends a bit further towards China, plus you have that Int'l Outpost thing that sells drink in there. The only two places I can see expansion are where Spain was last year or Millenium Village.

Granted that some spaces are not as big as the existing pavilions and that the thickness of the yellow lines might be confusing in determining the size.

Consider the access roads in between the pavilions and empty areas, those are there by design.

Also, look at this aerial, even though it's partial, the empty areas are much larger on a close-up than they might seem.

The old Millennium Village might be a possibility for another pavilion, but since it closed, a very permanent events organizing building has been built behind it with kitchens and storage areas. Millennium Village is now called World Showplace and it's used for conventions and gatherings.

But who knows, anything is possible for Imagineers.

SorcererMickey, I agree there seems to be plenty of land between Germany & China for another pavillion. Outpost refreshment port would need to be moved.

I say they should put in Brazil, or some other southern american country. And have a Three Caballeros Character Meal...

I just love that movie.

Don't know if anyone has read this......

But it gives an idea of how Epcot could have been, and how it could be expanded.

Yeah - they could do Oz or Kiwi territory [that one might be a bit harder...] with no problem. That would be nice and offer some interesting opportunities for movies/rides.

An Oz pavillion would be very cool. I would leave off on Saudia Arabia, too. It just really wouldn't fit in. But that article rdeacon gave was a very interesting read.
