I agree, it really is quite poorly done. And I hate it that they have those carnival games and you still have to pay extra for it. That's well below Disney, or at least I thought it was.Disneynut wrote:I agree, Primevil Whirl is pathetic. The overall appearence of Dinoland reminds me of that inferior dump that is better known as Coney Island.

If you are into photography AK is awesome. I can spend hours shooting photos of the waterfalls and animals there. If you are looking for great thrills, not so much. I just did a walking tour of Dinosaur (CRAZY) and Expedition Everest. We got to walk the track, it's going to be a great ride. They are hoping Everest does for AK what Tower and Aerosmith did for the Studios.QuickGold wrote:No argument there. AK is terrible.rick-g-tn wrote:Hey, it's better then most of the rides at Animal Kingdom, you know, natamusmentpark
I put up a bunch of my WDW (about 3800) photos online, check it out..

Its funny that they went ahead and built what Walt was against all along. Dinoland is a sorry excuse for a bridge between the entrance and asia. They really should have some type of transit system that takes you between the different lands. Its not very well put together. What happened to Beastly Kingdom??QuickGold wrote:I agree, it really is quite poorly done. And I hate it that they have those carnival games and you still have to pay extra for it. I have to agree that I was amazed that they did put in the games, the rides alone would have been fine. Doesn't seem to me like a Disney thing but then again arcades at the parks never did either.
And I still can't believe how they did the Eastern Star Railway - fake steam engines [I can't see Walt liking that one bit - dressing up diesel to look like steam makes railfans cringe - just make it like it is, one or the other...] and so-so scenery with huge billboards. The rail cars and atmosphere at the stations, etc. are well done so why not go the extra step and work on steam [there is still some here and there around the world] and scenery. I know - time and money but that didn't use to stop them... Maybe it is just a railfan thing...
But overall it has terrific atmosphere in Africa and Asia [and Dinoland - the cheesy area isn't too far off some roadside places I've seen]. I see lots of potential with the new area - it just takes time to build a really solid park and like vfxpro said, this could help AK like RnR and ToT helped MGM.
The Beastly Kingdom fate is interesting - esp. since how they still have a dragon in the AK logo yet they have nothing like that in the park...

That logo may be the sole bit of hope left that they will improve it.G2-4T wrote:The Beastly Kingdom fate is interesting - esp. since how they still have a dragon in the AK logo yet they have nothing like that in the park...

I actually really like Primevil Whirl. I have tons of fun and it makes me laugh the entire ride. I have to ride it several times when I go. I guess I'm in the minority on this one. I'm not a big fan of the carnie games, but I do like the basic "theme" of Chester and Hester...but as I said, I might be in the minority.Disneynut wrote:I agree, Primevil Whirl is pathetic. Re: Epcot updates
LOL. I really like the Canada movie. I'd be all for a re-shoot, but I hope they keep the song!G2-4T wrote:And Canada's move needs a serious update, over 22 years old now and it really shows! Maybe it is just since I've been around Canada enough times that I can notice it but there are pieces that are quite dated.

I'm in the minority too then, outside of the games I like Dinoland and the cheezy atmosphere, there is just something about it that makes it fun to walk through. I just wish they would have made Primevil Whirl a "normal" coaster without the spinning, I'm the only one in my family that can actually ride it!jpsevil wrote: I actually really like Primevil Whirl. Re: Epcot updates
Agreed - keep the basic soundtrack! Which I notice still isn't here - that would be a good addition to the station...jpsevil wrote: LOL. I really like the Canada movie. I'd be all for a re-shoot, but I hope they keep the song!

I like the spinning, but I know what you mean. Everytime I go with someone, it seems that someone is unable to ride. I really don't think the spinning is that bad, but I have high tolerance!G2-4T wrote:I'm in the minority too then, outside of the games I like Dinoland and the cheezy atmosphere, there is just something about it that makes it fun to walk through. I've always wondered how hard it would be to make a spin on/off switch in the car. The way the mechanics work it just releases a catch as you pass a certain point in the track. But if there were a way to keep that catch in place as the cars rolls over the trigger then riders could choose their own fate....

Whoa - don't break off the ! key there. That's what you get with that style ride and its slow loading. Considering its popularity and the design of loading 3 - 6 seater cars at a time it isn't surprising the line and FP is that long...
