longest wait

Post by sockfire » Jul Wed 14, 2004 8:09 pm

Opening weekend for Captain Eo at Disneyland my family waited for about 5 hours. I was a kid and got to run around and go on rides so I didn't really suffer through it. Everyone got cool Captain Eo rainbow shirts. An awesome weekend, the park did not close the entire time.

I personally sat through a 2 hour line for Test Track back in July 1999. After a wait like that no ride can live up to the anticipation. It was a cool ride, just took way to long to get on the thing. I've seen Soarin' Over California, Indiana Jones and Splash Mountain all at DLR with similar wait times, but never got in line. Thank god for fastpass!

when I was in Japan on a hot summer day weekend, the line for Splash Mountain was over 210 minutes (3 hours and 30 minutes) And that was when they didn't have FASTPASS :)

Splash Mountain AND Indiana Jones:
Both rides had just opened (at seperate dates, of course).
Both rides had technical difficulties.
Both lines I waited over 3 hours in,
Both times very close to the front of the line I wasn't able to get on!!!!

So, that's over 6 hours of waiting in line for nothing!

For Splash Mountain, I was working for a summer camp. We had all the kids, waited in line, waited in line, were close to the front, and our bus was leaving. So we had to go.

Indiana Jones kicked us out because it was an hour after the park had closed and the ride wasn't going to be coming back up. We had to leave the line and go home.

Splash Mountain, the first week it opened, almost 3 hour wait. Got on the ride, past the big drop and it broke down. Waited again for about 2 hours, got to the point where you can see the people getting in the logs and it broke down again. Like Subsonic, that was right at closing so the cleared everyone out of line with no pay off.

Indy, when it first opened was close to that long. Somewhere around 2.5 hours and didn't breakdown. At least we had the AT&T decoder cards and the Spike Trap and other abient effects to play with and watch. I think someone may have climbed up the rocks through a hole in the ceiling... oh wait  , that was another trip!!!

Disneyland, when Toontown had just baaarely opened we waited for almost 2 hours for Roger Rabbit's Cartoon spin.

Thankfully, we had a large group adn would switch off as to who had to stand in line and who got to take a break and explore the park.

So you completely missed the point of the topic :)
What's the longest time you've waited? Not, what's the longest line you've seen and didn't wait for?
Try again! :)

I also waited 85 min for Space Mountian at Magic Kongdom. But it was worth the wait.

I waited for Splash when it opened at DL for about 2 hours. Actually, it's not hard to do that now!!!
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

It's amazing how Splash Mountains still have such a long wait. Especially during the day. Once again, cram a bunch of theme and good animatronics in and the people will keep coming! Which is contrary to Pooh.

but

But Splash is themed on Brer Rabbit and the songs from the Song of the South... and a good portion of the animatronics were from America Sings. So Splash is probably the epitome of the cheapness and lack of creativity everyone is talking about. :?

BUT

I personally love the ride. :D It's great fun all times of the day. I wouldn't trade it for anything....

Except maybe Star Tours 2.0! 8)

Sure it's ripped from other stuff. But, you can tell they spent the money on the detail. Which makes it good. There's so much to look at.

Hello!

The longest time, I waited in a Disney Park was this year for the new Lion King Show at DLP!
I know that you asked for rides, but i think its a very long timer for a show!

I waited about 2 hours before the show bagan. But they let you inside the theatre 30 Minutes before the show begins, and so I only waited 1,5 hours in the line, and a half hour sitting in the theatre and watching "classic cartoons".

I think 2 hours are too much for a show, but its a very good show, and opened this year. Now is summer vacation time and the waiting time is reaching 2,5 hours.

BTW: The duration of the show is 25-30 minutes :-)
