Rant-N-Rave Magic Kingdom: Frontierland

Post by Croaker » May Thu 15, 2008 4:36 pm

************ READ BEFORE YOU TAKE THE POLL ************

Recently there is a post about what attraction to remove from the Magic Kingdom. Lets narrow this down even further so we can vent our frustrations and/or applaud the Magic. make sure you keep this thread on track. there will be others to follow that will allow you to pick on areas outside of the focus...but for now keep it on task.

Disect Frontierland, think back to all of the trips you have taken Take it all in with all of your senses and give us your opinion (thus no one is wrong) on what is perfect with this land? What would you change? What needs improvement? What needs to be left alone? What have you seen or heard that makes this section of the park special. share, complain, etc.

This land has two of the best rides in Magic Kingdom, Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain, so yes I enjoy it! I can't say it's my favorite land though. That's why I picked #3.

For a suggestion, they should bring back the old Diamond Horseshoe show. Now THAT was funny!

I almost never compare Frontierland by itself (I always include Liberty Square in Frontierland). That said, I give Frontierland a 4. If we were comparing the entire Rivers of America it would be a 5.

Good Point on Liberty Square. tough to distiguish, they melt together so well. I'll add the Rant-n-Rave Liberty Square now.

I really like the ambience of Frontierland. I think it's one of the lands in MK that doesn't get old after a while. You got to give it props for having Big Thunder and Splash. It's also a great place to watch the parade cause the parade comes through there first and then you can pretty much walk right onto your train or log while everyone else is on Main Street.

I voted #4 and agree with Sleeping Beauty 5. The ambience is great. I enjoy the sights, all the wood and stone building materials, the music, the view of the "river" and the smell of turkey legs.

I gave it a 4. It has my favorite ride being Splash Mountain and the atmosphere is pretty with the wood and water.

Love Frontier land. I'm a history buff and they really stay on track with the theme of this land. I mean, they even have the wooden plank sidewalks in front of the shops. Great area. Splash, Country Bears, Big Thunder Mountain, and even Tom Sawyer Island really take you back to a young Midwest and westward ho era.

I still say Tom Sawyer Island has a lot of potential that hasn't been tapped yet.

I really like this part of the park and it is probably my second favorite part of the park. The rides are great and having the turkey legs there on the street is a real plus.

Tough not to love Frontierland!

I voted a 4 and it was almost a five. It is in between Pirates and HM, so very well located. It has tremendous atmosphere, not to mention SM & BTM, two of the best! I gotta try one of these turkey legs everyone is always talking about and I've seen countless times! Someone mentioned the Horseshoe review, that was good, ESPECIALLY during Mickey's NSC Halloween! Tremendous version of Grim Grinning Ghosts sung by four Dead Cowboys w/green lighting and smoke. I stumbled upon it for a rest and it was one of the best unplanned surprises!

CB Jamboree hurts it, time to move on with that one, and I have yet to do Tom Saywer island. Is it worth the time?

Best themed land! SM / BTM is a great combo and often this is how we like to start our day at MK. We usually see CBJ because it's a classic even though it could use some revamping. Recently it's been our habbit to come here to watch the evening parade.

This part of the park is my second favorite. Combined w/ Liberty Sq. it is my favorite. I love the feel of the old US.

Amen!! I would agree that the combo of these two lands makes my favorite section. It's always amazed me that you could spend time on Tom Sawyer Island and feel like your miles away from everything else (or at least further than you really are).

Frontierland is superb, the environment is great, the soundtrack is great, the theming is nice, there's plenty of room, and we also have a 1-2 punch of good rides. My only recommendation would be to fix-up the menu at Pecos Bill, and extend the length of Big Thunder, but these are very very small gripes.

5/5
