Hard Rock Park
Has anyone visited this park yet? My family and I are stopping in Myrtle Beach to visit it on the way back from WDW this summer and I just wanted to see what other people's impressions are of it. I saw a youtube video of their fireworks show (Bohemian Rhapsody) and it really reminded me of an amatuer IllumiNations, that's what made me think to ask you folks.

Well, it's still in the "Sound Check" stages - i.e. soft opening, so it's still been kind of hit and miss for those that have been there so far. Not everything is up and running, though it all should be for it's grand opening this weekend. From what I understand, it's relatively small and doesn't have much to do for younger children, but it's well-themed and has *lots* of potential. The thing you have to remember is that this is a park that was built from the ground up without the backing of a major theme park corporation (Disney, Universal, Ceder Fair, etc.), so for what it is, it's very impressive. I'd say if you're in Myrtle, go ahead and hit it up.

Me again.
Here's something that might help you make your decision.

(I hope it's okay to link to this site. It's a general theme park/roller coaster forum, and this thread was started by someone who just got back from HRP. He wrote a VERY detailed trip report.)

I don't care for much of the music, but the Nights in White Satin dark ride sounds awesome enough that I could deal with the pretentiousness. I managed to sit through The Voyage of the Little Mermaid a few times just to see the cool effects, so I'm sure I could suck it up and listen to some pretentious rock bands do their thing.
It'd be cool if they had an inverse section of the park with Mojo Nixon's Don Henley Must Die coaster...
